"Clarification from the Premier League re; Shef Utd penalty that was awarded. VAR only ruled on whether the incident was inside or outside the box, not on whether a foul took place or not." - https://twitter.com/MattCritchley1/status/1320089028750987264
Michael Owen thinks it was a penalty.Because of course he does.
So basically Dean blew for the foul, then the VAR gobshites decided it was inside the box.So there's a clear disconnect between the ref and the VAR officials. You can't have one of them deciding one aspect and the others deciding the other. I think Dean only gives the foul becuase he reckons it was outside the box.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
not really winning the second ball?
Fabinho and Gomez haven't won a single aerial challenge between them, makes it too easy for them to get out. Can't help but think van dijk would be gobbling these up.
Anyone else notice the Sheffield United players throwing themselves to the floor on the penalty area after the VAR decision? Even they seemed to suss that they might luck out on another penalty.
Yep. The wise thing to do with refs giving us shit decisions is to start being rougher I can’t fathom what way that might go.
Owen: It (VAR) works perfectly Shite defending, creativity and refereeing, think we'll win 3-1
Do a lad and he will think twice before going in on you again
Anyone else just laugh when Dean pointed to the spot?So now in 2020 you don't even need to be in the box to concede a penalty. Good to know!I was certain he was going to give a pen for Robbo's handball tooMe
Totally agree. Gomez in particular is like a headless chicken when the ball in the air - such poor positional sense
Baffling. Him and Giggs claiming it's probably be given for a trailing leg afterwards. Fuck off
Owen and some other twat making a case that it was a penalty on the half-time show. Also saying VAR is working perfectly
Anyone who thinks this isn't retribution from the league for what we're trying to do as a club with project big picture and a european league is nuts. Every decision will now go against us.That wasn't even a foul let alone a penalty. It wasn‘t even inside. They've gifted Sheffield a penalty just because.
Didn't even celebrate the equaliser because I was worried it would get disallowed. This is what football has come to. VAR has killed the game. RIP
VAR ref wasn’t even interested if it was a foul. He was only interested in where it occurred.
Remember the World Club final when we got a free kick for a foul that was in the area.. and then it all got overturned and no foul was given?
