Can’t see any safety rails on the edge of the cathedral roof there. 😳
:lmao good one

Oh and it looks rather like the inside of the bell tower, or at least part of the roof of the main interior chamber.....pretty damned high up anyway. Soon after it first opened, I remember walking around inside and seeing a tiny door open in a corner - so naturally I went in and had a nose around. Ended up waaaaay up, looking down on the interior and then found my way into the eaves of that roof. Spent hours up there. Boss day that. Until I got caught and thrown out :)

I wonder what the photographer is hanging off??

Love the Liver birds on top of that shelter! <3

Amazing how small M&S used to be!!! The Futurist - was that on Lime St opposite the old ABC on the corner?? Could swear that M&S later became an independent clothes shop where I had my first Saturday xmas season job at 15!

Vegas - yeah - bad memories of gambling addiction in there - was another one around the corner iirc, on Lime St.

Love the pic of the stonemasons!

Cheers Medellin.

Noticed that first then the next thing was the girl is wearing a face mask.

Liverpool Society for the Prevention of cruelty to Children, it opened 1885 at 3 Islington Square, not sure of dates of pics.

Now whenever I feel sorry for myself over a perceived rotten childhood I look at pics like these.

Reminds me of one the streets in Walton looking towards Goodison Road. Spent loads of time around there as a kid as we had loads of family lived either side and the houses remind me of the streets around there

I was initially thinking Arnott Street but I can't remember is they had the front doors together, my nan lived in Lind Street and they weren't, but I think over the other side of Goodison Road had streets like that.

Just had a peek here..hope it shows up.

62 Arnot St

Doesn't look like Arnot st as the brickwork is slightly different, the houses are the same tho.
Bit of research will get it when the Mrs gives me a bit of time.  :D
Me Nan used to live in Linton st & as a youngster I'd have spent a fair amount of time around those streets.

My Auntie still lives in Frodsham Street, Auntie and Uncle still live in Dyson Street and another lived in Andrew Street. We were supposed to move to Cowley Road in 1978 ish but my knobhead Dad spent half of his redundancy money on an 18th month old Mk2 Escort instead....

Not arnot street I went to alsop lower school and that was built in the 60s I think and would have been on the left of the picture and the end of the road away from county road isn’t the same , seen this pic on Facebook the other day and someone suggested Venice street with there being a school there .

All them roads from goodison road leading to county road were built by a firm of welsh builders called Owen and Williams and the first letter of each of that is used in the road names ...Oxton  , Wilmslow , Elton , Neston etc

Bloody hell, I was there only a week ago on a walk down to the promenade.  Unrecognisable! :o

EDIT: took a couple of screen caps off Googlemap.  The tree centre left in the b/w image still appears to be there, as part of the central reservation.

From Flickr.
Philip Mayer.

Aigburth Road/Beechwood Road, Liverpool 19. 3 September 1964.
Looking south.

The Aigburth Hotel on the left.

Replaced by the Kingsman (now Toby).

The shops on the right survive.

A smart Standard on the right - I think it's the Ensign rather than the more popular Vanguard.

EDIT... Link to his flickr account.

Not so sure they're the same street mate.
The brickwork around the doors and windows are different, and so are the lintels above the windows.
There's no gate in the wall of the school (?) in one pic' and there is on the other.
There's no break in the houses on the right in the Flickr pic', but the houses change in the other.
There's no row of houses across the end of the street in one pic', but there is in the other.
