I'm looking forward to The Island quite alot, say what you like about Michael Bay, he makes cracking action movies and the cast is exceptional.

Just watched a film now called versus, it's been out a fair while i think.

it's a japanese kung-fu zombie flick, if you like gore, comical characters and lots of sword fights and gun fights set in a forest (the forest of ressurection) then you'll enjoy this, a lot of fun.

Plot Summary for
Versus (2000/II)

A pair of escaped convicts meet up with a group of gangsters by a remote forest road. After an arguement over a girl the mobsters have kidnapped, shots are fired and one of the gangsters is killed. The standoff is cut short, however, when the dead man suddenly springs to life and starts trying to kill his former friends. The zombie eventually goes down in a hail bullets, but their problems aren't over. It seems the gangsters have been using this forest to dispose of of their victims, all of whom are now looking to settle some old scores. Even if they get through this mess, there is still the question of why they've arranged to meet the convicts out here, and why they've brought along the girl. How are they connected to the dead bodies coming back to life?

Saw the advert for it today, and it doesn't even look as good as you say, BIGdavalad. Looks like a festering turd after a night out on the curry, stewing in a sweaty Armenian wrestlers jockstrap after days of competition in the sweltering heat

It looks poor, I agree.

If you're not doing anything on friday nights in the coming few weeks, then it's Al Pacino season on ITV3 - starting with Sea of Love next week at 10pm. Decent film.

Oh, and Leaving Las Vegas is on ITV 2 now, straight after the footie...

Pacino Season, good stuff. Hope they show 'Devils Advocate' Mainly for Pacino Showing Keanu Reeves up in the acting stakes and totally blowing him off the screen.

Stealth does look shocking, don't think I'll waste my time :)

I want to see Hotel Rwanda after talking to Saph about it, haven't seen any new films that have caught my eye really.

Can lend it to you if you want Elli, have a moody dvd rip of it, also has Assasination of Richard Nixon on it aswell. Both films DVD quality.

No probs.

I can walk again, well limp around the house. Gets painful if i do too much moving. Thought it would be a good idea to pop to Asda earlier, barely managed to get back ;D Swelling has gone down though which is good. Just a pain being limited to what i can do.

As bad as that? No, it looks worse experience than catching sight of a scabbed-up and knickerless Ann Widdecombe doing the can-can to the tune of Crazy Frog whilst Mike Tyson unloads uppercuts into your groin.

Anyone seen the remake of The Manchurian Candidate? Thought it was good up until the last fifteen minutes where it all felt a bit rushed.
As for the cinema, on the basis of the trailers I'm looking forward to The Island. Also got my ticket for Frightfest 2005 last week; an August Bank Holiday weekend worth of obscure horrors & thrillers from around the world, mmmm, geeky! I'll post a report on what I see once I regain focus having been in a cinema for four days, should be some good stuff, last year they had OldBoy and The Machinist amongst many others.

(good thread by the way, Bradigor)

Quality film - though it gets a bit mad at the end. The scene where the guy gets coughed out of court is pretty genius too, along with the teeth licking...

It runs over the August Bank Holiday - Friday 26th till Monday 29th August. Was at the Prince Charles just off Leicester Square, this year it is at the Odeon West End (being an OOT has some benefits ;)).
Weekend passes are not the cheapest at £130, but tickets for one-off shows are available at a tenner a pop so you do save a fair whack by seeing all 21 features. Last year they also had a screening of Hellboy with a cast and director Q&A, as well as a few other Q&As, and a load of freebies. Atmosphere was great, just loads of film buffs enjoying some films that might not normally get an outing on a big screen as well some sneak previews.
Anyway, that's enough selling from me, I'm not on commission :), their website is here: http://www.frightfest.co.uk/perl/search.pl?LABEL=2005-May&T=main

Mine was just a case of not being able to afford them, had to pay nearly £10 import tax with season 1. Got stung big time.

Not huge on the Kung Fu stuff, although crouching tiger etc has got me into wire fighting stuff. Hero & House of flying daggers both on the wishlist. More into the Asian Horror and drama than the Kung Fu.

Watched a decent British made horror flick called Creep on dvd at the weekend set in the London underground.  Think it's only recently been released on DVD.

If you like your horrors full of claustrophobic atmosphere then I'd recommend it.  It's about some girl that falls asleep while waiting for the last tube, then wakes to find the underground deserted and locked up.  She comes across a number of individuals who exist in the bowels of the underground, and the gist of the film is that they are pursued by some sort of mutant type person through disused underground tracks and corridors.

Was also surprised to see an actor who used to have one of the main roles in Holby City play the perv role at the start and then get mashed for his troubles.

Decent scarey flick, with a fair bit of gore and lots of rats thrown in for good measure.  Not one for a cosy night in with the missus though.

Stars the excellent actress that is Franka Potente  :lickin

Probably best known for her role in 'Bourne Identity' for the masses. But for those a little more into thier films she is excellent in a highly recommended film called 'Run Lola Run' She does a decent turn in 'Creep'. She has 4 new films due this year,(includung a film about the life of Che Guevara) and despite a long CV it is weird saying that she is one to look out for in the future for western audiences.
