lets not get excited, he was shit

but raffa got the best out of him, in the little glimpses i seen of him in the last few matches.

Shame he is 32, otherwise raffa mite have kept him.

You thinking that calling a player shit on an appreciation thread, is shit.  :wanker

Cheers for the memories Vlad, I hope you get over to a French Riviera team like you wanted.

Vladi. I am going to wear your shirt next year. A legend. To come in after a year of bit parts on the sideline, lacking fitness and sharpness. Yet being able put on such a performace against Ac Milan was astounding. You are a warrior and a Legend.

Unlucky with injuries at times, inconsistent at others when given the chance. Lately though has gave it loads, and shown more balls and comittment than certain other players.

Really happy for him that he signed of with a brilliant strike, if we hadn't followed Stevies goal up quickly it would have been a different story. All the best to him, he left with a C/L winners medal, that he had a major part in winning. I think he'll settle for that.

Like many I have doubted his appetite for the intensity of premiership football. However in addition to  the  goal no player who is prepared to take part in a penalty shootout and succeed can be accused of lacking bottle.I am happy to eat humble pie.
Now he will always be remembered by reds fans-not least for his obvious delight in the the clubs victory and what it meant to the fans.

A true pro as he's shown by the way he's reacted by being told he's not needed next season.

A real shame it never really worked out for him here, but I wish him all the best wherever he goes and hope we get a chance to show our appreciation in future.

Always had a soft spot for Vladi and over the years he's put in some good euro performances.  He's been dogged by injuries and never really seemed to adapt to the rough and tumble of the premiership.

I could never understand the level of animosity shown to him by some fans.  In my eyes he's always acted like a true pro - look how he reacted to being told he was no longer required.

So for scoring a great goal when it really mattered, and for having the guts to step up and take a penalty, I'd like to just say a BIG thankyou and best wishes for the future.

I was just readin chris basecombe's colum in the liverpool echo today and in it he said that on the back of one particulary bad performance smicer got visibily upset doing an interview and said something like "I am not good enough for this club and I should leave " and bascecombe had to tell him not to say these things about himself in public and not to put himself down , whatever anyone says I am so fucking glad that smicer has wrote himself into lierpool folklore he deserved it for the person that he is.

With his compatriot mouthing off to the media because he's not happy to be playing just 60-70 minutes per game, I think his contribution and his reaction to our win on Wednesday night put's the class and character of the man into perspective.

For me a player that has summed up our club in recent years, full of promise, obvious class, and yet so often fell short. We did not give up on Liverpool because to do that it would mean giving up on ourselves, If you where to be given one last game of football to watch before Wednesday you would had chosen that one wouldn't you? And then you would have invested a lifetimes of love and effort into being the best you could be. Anyone spot the parallel? Vladi was given one last game of football, he put in everything he had and look what happened, magic.

His kids where born here and that makes him as godd as local, but more than that he proved he was one of us, I normally hate "Badge Kissing" but when he did it after his ice cold penalty, I wept.

Vladimir Smicer: A true red in every sense of the word, beyond doubt, without regret, and woven into the fabric of this amazing family

Vlad,
thanks and YNWA

Strange how little confidence he had given his obvious class.  It's a shame he wasn't able to consistently match his potential.  Clearly ran himself into the ground on Wednesday.

Thanks for the memories Vladi and for scoring two superb goals in the Champions League Final with quality and composure.   Your heartfelt celebrations will be etched in our memories for years.  We wouldn't have done it without you.   Enigmatic legend.

Thought he played well in the second half and his kissing of the badge was from the heart as we all knew it was his last game for us.

Surely there is someone out there who took a photo of Vladi celebrating (with his cigar) with our fans in Istanbul?

Is there anybody out there with a photo?

I`ve always been a Vladi fan, and I remember I used to defend him on several occasions when i posted on .tv, a couple of years ago!!

You are a great player Vladi, one of the best in our squad, but sadly the PL did not suit your style, and sometimes your teammates was to average to understand your genius ;D
