Work’s been busy since we last played, and I’ve not been on RAWK as much as usual - but what is Ox doing in these line ups? Is absolutely everyone else injured? I like the lad, he looked a cracking player 5 years ago, but he’s anonymous on the pitch these days

This game cannot come and go quick enough.

Game back after a break.
Early kick off.
Away.

Three very strong reasons why we would lose to anyone Saturday, let alone City who seem to have found their momentum and are hunting Arsenal down.
I usually think a 12.30 kick off favours the away team a little as it quietens the crowd.

Obviously not an issue at city though.

It’s just a bizarre time to show such a big match, why put your biggest game at the worst time??

Because it's on BT, not Sky, so they only have the 12:30 slot to show it in.

Sky didn't take it with their first pick because they can only show teams 5 or 6 times at 16.30 Sun, so they took Newcastle v Man United meaning BT took City v Liverpool with their second pick, meaning it has to be at 12.30 as that's when their games have to be played. Sky have calculated that this isn't as important to use up a Liverpool Sun 16.30 first pick on as opposed to Liverpool v Arsenal, Liverpool v Tottenham, etc.

When Sky pick their 16.30 Sun game BT then have second pick, but they can also only pick teams 6 times in their one weekend package. As a result Sky work out the games they can dangle BTs way in the hope BT take them, which eventually leaves them maxed out on some big clubs leaving Sky to then have all the big games for the rest of the weekends. After this weekend Sky will know if they can't pick City or Liverpool at 16.30 Sun for quota reasons they can pick something else knowing BT can't take the City or Liverpool game, so it will bounce back to Sky to stick at 14.00 Sun, 17.30 Sat etc with a lower pick.

This is why some big City and Liverpool games have fallen BT's way since the New Year (Manc derby, Liverpool v Chelsea and this). Sky passed them hoping BT would take them, which they did. Sky take the hit of missing a few bigger weekend games for the bigger win of having all of them in the last 10 weeks.

Just to show how important this game and this week is, we are on 42 points with 12 games left. To get to 68 points (which you imagine we may need), if we fail to win this coming week, 9 wins out of the remaining 9 games gives us 27 points.

Basically we need to win at least one game this week because there is no way we are winning the remaining 9 out of 9.

I think at absolute worst case we need 4 points realistically. Anything less then that and we are pretty much fucked.

Five points is really the minimum we need to label this week somewhat successful, preferably six.
We're chasing results now and need to keep collecting points at a steady rate.

Haaland missed training for them

I think we will still lose as got a bad record there and no midfield. Winning two of these three would be huge.

Let's not forget they have a game against Bayern coming up.
Which might impact their decision making if any player is borderline ready to play.
Champions League is where it's at for them - fail to win it after buying Haaland would be a failure of munumental proportions.

We haven’t won their in the League in a while. Obviously we had the European win. Lost in the League Cup in December. We remember the heavy League defeats but we’ve drawn their in our last couple of League visits.

Our record against the Top 5 and Chelsea this season is P-8 W-5 D-1 L-2 Pts-16

Big games haven't been our problem this season, we should be reasonably confident we'll pick points up over the next 10 days. It's whether we get enough to keep in the race or not.

Who hasn't these days? On our best day we can still turn anyone over at Anfield, but we're capable of being brushed aside in every away game.

City/Chelsea/Arsenal. The question is which games will we raise it for and which ones will we phone it in for? Because we haven't got 3 big performances in us in a week (particularly with midfield absences). We'll turn up in 1-2 of the matches and throw the other. 4 points would be a decent return because after these games we're capable of a good run in with a favourable schedule.

Haaland not in training means that he will definitely play at the weekend. City do this every time the week before we play them and the same thing happens. No doubt Pep will be ‘shitting himself’ in the conference tomorrow about him being unavailable.

Oh there’s a game on Saturday. Had barely noticed.

I suppose when a club stabs you in the back after 25 years of waiting and hands your spot on the season ticket waiting list to hospitality, you lose a bit of interest.

Not sure but thats the forward line when we last beat City. Gives us more defensive protection. Think Nunez’s role in these big games is better served as an impact sub.

I broke down our week:

4/1 - @ Corruption FC
4/4 - @ Sanctions and Firesale FC
4/9 - Arsenal

We will have a good sense if our slim CL hopes are gone in 1 weeks time.

Win 3 - Lights are at full power
Win 2 and draw 1 - Lights are on, but we may need to rely on some solar power too
Win 2 and lose 1 - Lights are on but the dimmer switch is stuck on medium
Win 1 draw 2 - Lights are on but are flickering nonstop
Win 1 draw 1 lose 1 - Lights are on - but one is burned out
Win 0, draw 2, lose 1 (or worse) - There is no power.

Great OP and with the beauty of hindsight I dont reckon you are far off with the future of the game going that way!

I have missed a bit of footie over the last few weeks. I couldn't be arsed with the England matches, so I am weirdly excited (in a fetishy kind of way) to welcome our match this weekend. A win for us would be awesome!

I don't really know who we have or don't have available but I heard good things about Curtis over the last few days..is there a possibility we could start with him? I know we are short staffed in Midfield but I can see Hendo, Fab and possibly Curtis starting. I would also like to see Bobby starting behind a front three of Mo, Cody and Nunez.

I know. That only leaves us with 3 defenders! I was hoping i had miscalculated but alas, that's where we are, so there is no way we start with a  3-3-1-3! Maybe and more likely, a 4-3-1-2

Allison needs to have a worldie. And, why wouldn't he...He IS Allison!

I'd start Nunez alongside Bobby and Mo. Nunez just offers something different.

He does but again I am not sure on him just yet, no idea what we are going to get with him.

Personally Id go Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Fabinho, Elliott, Henderson, Jota, Bobby, Salah.

Again only frustrating thing again is that there are six 30 year olds in that 11. God our squad planning has been annoying.

Heart says we trash them. Head says we're terrible away and they're the best PPG home team in the league so this is a really bad matchup. If I was betting man I'd split the difference and go for a draw. I can't see Klopp going back to the 4-4-2 mid block as we did in the home game to frustrate them so either Fabinho/Hendo are on form or this could be a long afternoon.
