DVD on, my favourite film ;D

Bit unrealistic no? A team which had to qualify coming back from 3-0 down to win on penalties against one of the best teams in the world? If Hollywood had written that, it'd be laughable.

Best night of my footballing life, EVER. Nothing on this earth will ever compare to the feelings I went through for those few hours of complete madness. Deflation at half time, ecstasy at the end. I cried my face off all night with tears of joy, cried into the morning papers the next day, and then cried again all the way through Sky's coverage of the homecoming. Absolutely unforgettable. Thankyou Rafa - the people who gave you shit should be ashamed of themselves. You really will Never Walk Alone and will forever have a special place in my heart. I have an 8 year old son who watches the DVD of this at least once a week and he knows every second of it. He asks me every day if Rafa has been brought back yet, sort it fucking out FSG!

Hahaha Stevie and Carra singing ring of fire, Riise tries to join in and they both leave.  Twats ;D
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

best night of my life fullstop. That whole european cup campaign was amazing, from the groups to leverkusen, juventus, chelsea. It was a fairytale and one I will never forget. So many players who werent first XI players contributed in that competition, the likes of Biscan, Smicer, Traore, Le Tallec, Sinama, Mellor, it's what makes it even better and sweeter.

Yeah what can you say, it was just written in the stars. Old enough to remember all the European cups, of coarse they were all great but Istanbul was a miracle. We were no where near the best team in the tournament on paper but it all just came together and to be 3 nil down at half time is what made it so great, obviously! Devastated at half time, then the mad 6 minutes, extra time and Dudek's double save from Shevchenko, I still think he's got to score when I see it! How did he keep it out?
Would of taken any win but never dreamed we'd do it like that. Always makes me smile when I think about it. The Misses at half time said, well if they can score 3 in a half, so can we, I just said no babe, their Italian and know how to defend, the dreams gone. she still rubs it in.

I feel a bit sorry for your dad not being able to go through the emotions of the second half, dudeks save, and penalties. The final penalty save brings me to tears every time I see it. Thinking back to my feelings at that moment is one of my favourite things to do.

Tried to find that a couple of days ago myself. Think I actually downloaded once it first got put up, so if I find it I will upload later. Seriously though, the best 10 mins clip I've ever seen. The music mixed in with the commentary bringing back all those emotions. Never watched it and not had a lump in my throat.

25th May 2005 ... one of the greatest nights I have ever seen.

It still brings tears to my eyes :) After that 1st half I thought it was all over. After Dudek made THAT save from Shevchenko I knew it had been written.

I am so proud of the club, Rafa Benitez, the players and most of all I am so proud of the way we won the European Cup in 2005 that became ours to keep.

Thank you Rafa - you let us dream again and made us achieve - you will forever be in my heart alongside Kenny, Paisley and Fagan. All winners in my lifetime.

Seven years on from the greatest night of our lives and it’s incredible how much has changed in football since then. Back then, who would have thought that in 2012, Man City would be the league champions? Who would have thought Roberto Di Matteo would be the first man to win Chelsea the Champions League? Who would have thought a tiny Argentinian would have scored over 70 goals in a season for Barcelona?  Or that Rangers would be in administration, or that Roy Hodgson would be managing England, or that Michael Owen would be playing for Manchester United? Who would have thought a massive corruption scandal would be exposed in Italian football? Or Zidane’s last moment on a football pitch would involve him head-butting an opponent in a World Cup final? Or that the goofy, spotty, Portuguese kid playing for Manchester United would later be sold for £80m?

It’s been a crazy seven years in football, but it’s been an even crazier seven years at Liverpool. In 2005 we were the familiar, old, family club that we’d always been. David Moores was still the owner, we had a manager with a long term future, we had a playing squad that could be improved with a bit of work and a set of support that were still regarded as the best in the game. We were a club on the up. If you’d told me back then that within the next seven years we would have come close to collapse under the ownership of a pair of American cowboys, that they would have sacked our most successful manager for two decades, that our fans would have been torn apart by in-fighting, that they would have appointed Roy Hodgson as manager, that they would have been succeeded by yet more Americans, that Kenny Dalglish would be back in the hot-seat only to be pushed out of the door again, that we would be searching for our fourth manager in three years and that we still wouldn’t have won a league trophy, I would have cried.

Don’t get me wrong, there have been some wonderful moments since Istanbul. I have some amazing memories of FA Cup runs, European nights, trophies at Wembley and Cardiff, our closest challenge for the league title in years and some wonderfully skilled players. But all in all, if I had known that this is where we would be in 2012, I would have torn my hair out. There’s been more pain than pleasure, more disbelief and incredulity, more fighting and anger, more sorrow as bit by bit the club I love has been eroded in front of my eyes. There have been times where I’ve seriously considered walking away, but if there’s one lesson we all took from Istanbul, it was that no matter how bleak things are, you should never, ever, give up. As much as it hurts sometimes, I will not give up on Liverpool, because seven years ago today I was watching the greatest of dramas unfold. And the following day I was stood with 500,000 other reds, every single one of us bursting with pride, as our team brought that cup home. I can’t imagine a better feeling, that whole summer I was wearing a smile, and I’d give anything to live it again. That’s why we follow football, and Man City’s recent drama was a reminder of that.

The way I see it we’re currently 3-0 down; we just finished 8th in the league, our iconic manager was sacked, we lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea and we’re being linked with dubious managerial candidates. The question is can we overcome this? Can we level at 3-3 and take it to penalties? Can we once again experience nights as crazy, atmospheric and joyous as Istanbul? It might take a miracle, but as we all know, miracles DO happen.
"If ever a club reflected what made football the biggest sport in the country, it was Liverpool with its ground set in the bosom of the labouring working class being led by a man-of-the-people idealist in Bill Shankly."

Rome 84 - My Dad (35 yrs) had died the year before. Sat at home watching it aged 9 and thinking do it for my Dad. when we won it, my Mum couldn't understand why I sobbed like a banshee.....I like to think he enjoyed as much as I did....wish he'd been there to see it.

Istanbul - watched it with my best mate in Dublin. Both dads were scousers. we blew 200 euros on champagne and got told to calm down in the Clarence Hotel (Dublin). I had an exam the next morning. managed a 1st.....and got my leg over too....

Fantastic Day and will never be repeated in my life.
Flight from John Lennon to the Asian side of Istanbul. (Why did Milan get the better airport in Istanbul and the only airport where we had a frigging tent in Athens?).
Awful hotel but out until 4.00 am teaching the Turks our songs. Blue Mosque, grand bazaar and then the best sight seeing of all ... Tacksim Square. Was I proud to be a Red that afternoon. Mad taxi driver back to hotel to pick up the bus to the game.  Streets lined with Turks waving at us as if we were the team.  Had to get out a mile from the ground cos of gridlock.  It was like walking on the moon to a weird spaceship stadium.
Scallies robbing the tents outside.  Singing "we all dream of a team of Carraghers" and then " We have nightmares of a team of Vladimirs" (fair play to the boy we had to eat our words a couple of hours later).
Half time and texts from the UK:  "Glad we aren't with you". Hoping that we'd not end up on the wrong side of a rout.  Then....everyone around us with the best YNWA that I have ever heard and every hair on the body rising.
Gerrard running along in front of us after scoring, whipping up support.  A crazy 6 minutes.  Jerzy performing miracles and then penalties. Could not watch. The rest: HISTORY.  Carra going mental infront of us. Big Ears is back to stay.
Until my dying day there will never be another sporting occasion like that.

The ITV, the Sky Sports, even the official LFC DVD doesn't have it - does anyoen haev the EXTENDED celebrations from the final? The one where the "We are the Champions" and "YNWA" is played over the speakers with the fans/players joining in.

There used to be a Dutch TV version of the final which had this.

its a bit surreal watching the third vid, may have dreams about that tonight, quite astounding video footage
Diego Maradona: "The English club proved that miracles really do exist. I've now made Liverpool my English team. They showed that football is the most beautiful sport of all. You knew they could defend but the team showed they could play too and wrote a page in the history books. The match will last forever. "
