Medellin and Jim thought this would be a useful thread and an opportunity to highlight organisations that specifically neglected employees during this period. It's not another thread for everyone to chat shit in so the messages get lost in the noise.

I don’t think carephone warehouse was related to the virus, just the internet killing physical retain with some coincidental timing.

He's a multi billionaire that doesn't pay UK taxes (or at least a minuscule amount to what he should pay), and is wanting a UK government bailout for his airline.

'Virgin Atlantic is owned by the Virgin Group (20%), Air France-KLM (31%) and Delta Air Lines (49%).' Not really his airline any more, though I don't disagree with the UK taxes argument.

I assume that people will throw their Apple stuff in the bin and boycott it in future for the way they treat their slave labour? Plus all the clothing and sports goods manufacturers and all the rest?

Want to hijack the thread and thumbs up to...
a) Brewdog - producing and distributing sanitizer - free of charge I believe
b) Polar - who charge a monthly fee for electric car recharge points. Waiving the fee right now and allowing emergency services to charge for free(small gesture I know, but doesn't need to be made)
c) Caledonian Sleeper - refund direct to my account for a cancelled ticket. They did this off their own bat. I didn't apply.
d) There's hundreds of apps and things going free at the moment now I think about it. Don't know if they are playing the long game here though.
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

Brewdog's sanitizer was rejected by my local NHS because it didn't meet standards. SPent too much time on the branding and not enough on the product it seems like.

Bit snide that.

The label prob took one guy half a day, at most, to make who wouldn’t have been involved in the production anyway. In the meantime they’ve made and donated 100,000 bottles of sanitiser. Plus it’s only not suitable for clinical use, which I imagine plenty of shop bought sanitisers are not, so its still useful and they said they’d make changes to get it approved so aren’t stopping there either.

Maybe I'm a bit cynical. I know people that have worked for Brewdog in their brewery and head office, and have heard all the stories about James Watt and how  he behaves. Lets just say the way he treats employees is no better than the behaviour of a lot of the companies being demonised in this thread. My cousins friend is his partner. Brewdog were far from the first brewery/distillery that started making sanitizer, yet they are getting all the name drops from the government.....

On the bottles it says 60% alcohol content. I thought medical grade was 70%. Is that the reason?

Good: Hilton - first major chain to offer no quibble immediate refund on non-cancellable bookings.

Bad: Most train companies refused refunds on Advance tickets for first two weeks.

Bad: British Airways - refusing refunds if flights still running even where UK passengers were banned from travelling.  Deliberately changed website to stop people on flexible bookings from cancelling and getting a refund.  They tried you to force you to call and wait in queues for several hours.

Deliveroo .

The twats won't give us sick pay but it's been in the media that they are trying to set up a platform for us to deliveroo food as a voluntary worker to the vulnerable. The voluntary stuff makes them look good.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/techcrunch.com/2020/03/18/deliveroo-riders-cant-access-coronavirus-hardship-fund-warns-union/amp/

Stuart ( Just Eat )

I sent them my sick note only to be told Iam Self Employed so ta ra on that one.

Santander.

Taking my last 30 quid for my overdraft fees . I called them days before saying can they freeze it. I was told they couldn't but I should phone them up once it's been taken and they ' may ' be able to reimburse me. I phoned their ' emergency coronavirus ' help line and was given a phone number for a financial company.

Kesey all banks have been told they shouldn’t be charging overdraft fees at this time. I’m with Nat West who have said no charges for the next 3 months. They might still charge interest in it but that’s it I think. Banks tend to stick together on things like this so I would think Santander should be the same. Definitely worth checking again with them if you can.

I'm almost sure too that there's a thing where if banks knowingly put you into unnecessary financial hardship because of their charges you can claim them back.

There was a case that went to court around the height of the PPI stuff though not sure how it ended.
