ArCains Arcade
« on: December 20, 2019, 10:27:16 pm »
Just come back from a night out at Baltic Market and the new ArCains Arcade

https://www.arcains.co.uk/

It is by far the biggest arcade I've ever been in (and I've been to the old Trocadero in London). 3 floors with what must be at least £3-4m worth of very old, old and new arcade cabinets, shooters, racers, consoles etc.

It's £16 each to get in but all the games are set to free play (except the pinball and basketball machines) and you can leave and come back.

Spend 4 hours in there and didn't get to every machine.

Well worth it

It does seem like a lot. I thought the same. Until I got in there. Once you're in the games are all free. and the place is HUGE. I mean massive. Its over 3 floors packed with all kinds of arcade cabinets and shooters and driving games.

I've been the one you mentioned, NQ64. That is free to get in but £5 for credits to use on the machines.

Arcains is so much better

Looks good, going to check this out in the next week. I think £16 is fair enough given that you can spend a whole afternoon there. Arcade Club in Bury is the same price. I've been there twice and thought it was worth it both times.

There is beer.

I went on Saturday. It's pretty decent. I'd say the thing that lets it down slightly is that although it has a lot of retro arcade games, they are emulators and not in original cabinets. Playing Donkey Kong or Galaga in a modern cabinet doesn't have the same charm as playing on an original machine. For that reason I would say it's not as good value as Arcade Club in Bury, but still worth a visit.

It was moderately busy, but not chocka. Didn't have to wait to go anything.

That's a shame.  I was excited for a minute there.

It's only £10 on a Wednesday though, so if I do go, that'll be the best time.

Spent the day there yesterday for my birthday. You get a free mask and big bottle of hand sanitizer when you get in to stay safe.

Well worth it for anyone who likes arcade games

It had PS4/Xbox/Switch’s all set up, Fifa was available on a few. Only other footie game I remember seeing was that arcade game, where you scored and celebrated by running right down the running track.

Again in the before-time.
AHA!
