Lily Allen looked mighty fine once again  :lickin

Think she's quite average myself and was caked in make up.
Didn't know she had a posh voice either.

Loving this rendition of  'Personal Jesus' by Depeche, what an amazing band.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

for some reason, I always thought that Dave Gahan was gay.  Apparently, he is not...

Essex representing!  Amazing that Depeche Mode are still around!

Ha ha, no he's not and even more surprisingly neither is Martin Gore
even though he looks camper than even Freddie Mercury on stage.

I quite like Dizzee Rascal, doubt I'd ever buy any of his albums, but I like most of his singles and I saw him at Glasto and he was pretty bloody good.

If seeing Dizzee Rascal flab about with his uber-shite new plague of a song wasn't bad enough... the line up this week was so jaw droppingly bad I actually got angry watching it. The best part was watching a camera pan coming from the right at the start of Gladys Knight's opening bars... it already sounded very poor but there was Jools, sat on his arse at the piano behind her and you just KNEW that this song was going to be very very horrible. Actually it wasn't.. it was just very very dull but surrounded by the likes of Mika, Shakira, nice arse shame about everything else, 'XX' get off the bloody stage!, the frighteningly bad Cribs and some other stuff... it was a genuine highlight.

Bloody awful programme. Pack it up Jools - it's shite. Starting on BBC2 now... crisps, beer, and crack is needed. Or just save yourself the bother and go to bed.

Jools's guests include Paul Weller, who makes a welcome return after scooping a number of lifetime achievement awards in the last few years. He performs tracks from his tenth solo album Wake Up The Nation, the follow-up to his highly acclaimed 22 Dreams, which is debuted live on the show.

South London's Hot Chip return to the studio to showcase tracks from their recently released fourth album One Life Stand; the hotly tipped Marina Lambrini Diamandis aka Marina and the Diamonds make their, or rather her, Later debut performing songs from her Family Jewels debut.

Gogol Bordello are on hand to play a number or two from their brand new Trans Continental Hustle release. In the traditional Later spirit of introducing brand new talent, from Malahide near Dublin, Villagers are the first act from Ireland to have signed to the influential label Domino Records and will perform a couple of numbers from their upcoming debut album. Plus, Free/Bad Company and latterly Queen legend Paul Rodgers pops in for a chat about his incredible career.

The sixty plus artists appearing in this upcoming Later... with Jools Holland series include the likes of Gorillaz, Band of Horses, Kate Nash, Jerry Dammers Spatial AKA Orchestra, Laura Marling, Mos Def, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, Jeff Beck, Yeasayer, Drive By Truckers and The National.

Gorillaz is just a mad PR stunt, not something you can appreciate more live.  Band of Horses are a faddy thing, Mos Def lives in 2003, Jeff Beck is ok, and are Yeasayer a band?

This is live, they tape it tonight, show it friday. What they are doing is showing a live snippet though, as the final show can often differ from the live version. Bands are given about 3 takes and the best one gets shown in the recording on friday, this is an effort to show it can be done live though.
