Muller is Bayern's Bobby Frimino, doesn't get much credit for the wider audience for the role he plays due to goalscoring exploits of Lewandowski like Salah but when he doesn't play Bayern instantly become a much worse team and he's the one who makes them tick and is the driving force for them being a well oiled machine.
I'd argue he does get credit - or at least used to with the old "Raumdeuter" thing - he also scores and assists a lot more than our Bobby - at least this season. Last season, Bobby also got loads of praise, with lots of people putting him in the premier league TOTS and stuff - it's just this our defence have been even better, and Hendo is the one they've been singling out for effusive praise outside that. For the record - Bobby F had 12 goals and 6 assists last season in 2620 mins (one every 145.6 mins) and 8 goals and 7 assists last season in 2422 mins (one every 161.5 mins, so a little bit worse) - compared to Muller this season's 7 goals and 20 assists(!) in 1992 mins (one every 73.8 mins), although he had a particularly poor (for him) season last year with only 6 goals and 9 assists in 2391 (one every 159.4 mins, his worse return since 2011/12 for Bayern) which, coupled with Coutinho's early form for them and his poorish first month of this season, led to some people questioning whether he was past it.
