West Brom look a massive team, they have bullied us from what I've seen in terrible conditions

Sadly seems some of the lads don't know how to cope, good learning experience

None of those boys will start against Villa. Some of them might be on the bench though. Will be something like this against Villa I would think.

                    Kelleher

Williams     VDB     Clayton     Larouci

                    Chirivella
           Kane                 Lewis

   Elliott                                Jones
                     Brewster

Subs: Winterbottom, Gallacher, Koumetio, Dixon-Bonner, Clarkson, Longstaff, O'Rourke

Reading a good article in the athletic about Xabi Alonso and the start of his coaching career.  Found this bit to be very interesting.

Quote
“What I do think really strongly about is, when players are 19 or 20, they need to be playing against men rather than kids their own age,” he says. “It is the last step before professionalism. Without the experience of playing against men — who are bigger and more experienced than you — you only learn how to play against skill or talent, and skill or talent is just the same part of one part of the game.”

Our U-23s had a win away to Brighton yesterday, although as usual, they didn't make it easy for themselves even though they were 3-0 up at HT.

Curtis Jones made it 4-0 soon after the break. But then we let 3 goals in and Curtis scored another, final score 5-3.

Curtis Jones seems to be on fire this season 7 goals and 4 assists in 10 games. Delighted for him, as he looked a player at u18 level but he didn't have much impact on the score sheet last season.

Looks like we're willing to let Brewster leave on loan in January. Not the worst move if he can get a regular start for a good championship team, I am surprised he's not been given more game time this season but can't complain with the options we have ahead of him.

Probably the right call. Really not surprised at his game time, he's behind Origi and we have other options for the wider areas too, so prob best he goes and gets game time at a decent level.

Yes, although it leaves us very short on cover for the front three. Divock, Shaqiri, that's it.

I think we'd switch it around to play Ox before Brewster (as we did at the weekend).

I'm not sure letting a player leave who has played 0 minutes in the league will leave us any shorter than we are. If any of the front three got injured, Origi, Shaqiri, Ox, Lallana, Keita and Wijnaldum would all feature in the front three before Brewster at this stage and probably even Milner and Henderson too. Actually wouldn't surprise me if Elliot is considered ahead of him.

Its a shame because we obviously have high hopes for him but he hasn't really done anything with the limited chances he's had so far. Hopefully that's just a case of him recovering from his injury and still being in development rather than him not being good enough.

Brewster is as close to being cover to them as Jones and Elliott, one of which at least will stay past January. Ox and probably wijnaldum, keita and Trent start over them if it's a game that matters

I'm just wondering if we might be looking for alternatives.

I think that's a stretch. Things change, but it was clear at the start of the season that Klopp wanted Brewster to be part of the playing squad. He hasn't been involved, but 5-1=4 just the same.

Anyway, not really the thread for that conversation. Hopefully he'll be able to convince on loan.

I'm sure we are but I thought we'd buy someone in the Summer too. If anything, a January loan might be our way of seeing if he is good enough or whether we need to go all out next summer to buy a top class forward. I can't see us signing anyone ourselves in January.

There's evidently a "journey" and path here for Brewster.

Our front three are all 27/28 which means we have 2-3 years to develop a world class striker to fill there boots. In fact we need three plus a back up or two!!

My personal opinion is Leeds or Villa would be a better option for him. He needs game time and goals. From the little I've seen of him on social media etc. (which I'd be the first to accept could be a complete misrepresentation and I'd defer to those that actually know the lad), I'd personally worry about him being in London with Crystal palace and not getting game time. Lots of bright lights.
If you can't walk in a straight line.... you shouldn't be playing for Liverpool. End of

Jones could become the all time scorer in the youth league today at this rate. Only 3 behind i believe!
