James Horncastle made a really good point that tactically this Italian side have been inspired by Atalanta and Sassuolo, which has allowed for a cultural sea change in how they are approaching matches. Refreshing to see.

NEWS | Antonio Rudiger will face no punishment for Paul Pogba ‘bite’ After the match, Pogba claimed Rudiger “nibbled” him during France's 1-0 win over Germany but insisted the defender should not face a ban for the incident

Is he trying to look like Suarez? and issuing a come get me plea to us or Barcelona?
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

He just nicked it from me I reckon

Sassuolo have some top talent to hand. Them and Atalanta are really shaking up Italian football. Think it’s actually seeped into Italian football as a whole because they’ve realised there’s another way to play and actually it’s necessary to evolve to keep up.

'Uefa threat over Euro 2020 final at Wembley':-

Football body warns it will take match from London to Hungary unless quarantine waived for 2,500 officials

'Thousands of VIPs will be allowed into England without the need to quarantine under plans to stop the final of the European Championship being moved from Wembley to Budapest, The Times can reveal.

Ministers are discussing a proposal to exempt Uefa and Fifa officials, politicians, sponsors and broadcasters from having to self-isolate on arrival despite concerns that this could lead to an increase in coronavirus infections and provoke a backlash from the public.

About 2,500 designated VIPs attending games at Wembley would not have to abide by the quarantine restrictions imposed on ordinary travellers. They would be allowed to attend matches at Wembley during the knockout phase of the tournament as well as training sessions and meetings with the UK government.'

I think after Portugal won while getting all of 3 points in the group stage last time it's hard to draw anything clearly from the group games so far.  With that said I think the biggest surprise has been how bad Turkey have been, they've been truly awful.  Aside from that what else?  For me I think Portugal is actually better but seemingly their manager won't let them play as such.

Heard a rumour (so take with a pinch of salt), that the UK is going to start allowing people to come from amber countries without having to quarantine if they’ve had both doses of a vaccine. Would get around this particular problem, and generally seems pretty sensible to me.

Either that or say they’re exempt now, then 2 days before the final say that they’re not when it’s too late for them to change anything- fuck the UEFA dickheads. I’d actually love to see their collective meltdown if this happened, which of course, it would never.

'UEFA welcomes anti-piracy operation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza in Italy':-

The ‘Euro Strike 2020’ initiative has seen over 600 illicit services blocked, which were unlawfully streaming UEFA EURO 2020 matches

https://www.uefa.com/returntoplay/news/026a-128cb173cd9f-0aaf3e3356ba-1000--uefa-welcomes-anti-piracy-operation-conducted-by-the-guardia-di

^ so there'll shortly be 1800 new 'illicit services' soon starting up offering free streams etc...

Makes you wonder how poor UEFA coped when matches used to be shown on free tv. Less money to go around for bribes, backhanders, lawyers and corruption nowadays I suppose.

After watching several matches, Grealish (As predicted) is easily the biggest diver in the world at the moment

He was on the pitch for about half an hour yet apparantly 'fouled' more than all the other players in the team in that short time.

He's such a ridiculous cheat and the reason why diving is so shit in the league as a whole at the moment is that (unless you play for Liverpool) then they simply ignore dives or say it's "Clever play"

I see lots more cheating in the PL than in this tournament, and the bits of La Liga, European stuff etc. Grealish is the worst - but the whole culture of diving or “inviting/initiating the contact” is a joke.

The German FA have confirmed UEFA have stopped now their investigation into Neuer wearing a rainbow armband:-

https://theathletic.com/news/manuel-neuer-rainbow-armband-uefa/47Dxc6G9c9dV

https://twitter.com/DFB_Team_EN/status/1406682607807569921?s=20

'UEFA have today shared with the DFB that they have stopped the review of the rainbow captain's armband worn by
@Manuel_Neuer. In a letter, the armband has been assessed as a team symbol for diversity and thus for a 'good cause.''

Embarrassing that UEFA actually had an investigation in the first place - or thought there should be one because someone wore a rainbow armband.

Like Rob says above...

Little reminder to UEFA. You see that Respect badge above the armband? Remember what it is for?

The films advocate UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin’s belief that European football’s governing body should be a social fair play organisation, which means a zero-tolerance stance on racism, sexism, homophobia or any form of discrimination

I hope the German FA lights up the Allianz with rainbow colours for their match vs Hungary on Wednesday (and gladly pays UEFA any fine etc)...

Pretty sure they could get crowdfunding for the fine in minutes if they felt so inclined.

Playing devils advocate. Has any political party taken the rainbow? Maybe a German one? In which case it doesn't seem wrong for uefa to have an investigation ( especially if there is a complaint). It's sort of fairly obviously not a political symbol, but I don't see much wrong with a quickly closed investigation.
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

They won’t want to upset their Qatari sponsors by letting this slide. I hope germany do this and take the fine.

The Greens in Germany is very vocal in their support of LGBT rights, but nope, their logo isn’t the flag.

Just UEFA being petty and yet again getting their priorities very wrong.

Am I incorrect in thinking that there is an unfair advantage for the teams who complete their groups last ( perhaps groups E & F) as the third place team will know exactly what they need to do in order to qualify, whereas the teams in the earlier groups do not have that luxury?
Could it lead to a few teams playing out a result in order to put Switzerland out for example? Or to get a 'favourable' draw?
Usually the last games in the group are played at three same time, and it only affects that particular group.

Austria and Ukraine both know a draw will see them both qualify tomorrow. The odds on a draw are currently 10/11…

Between the location of bottles at press conferences, a match restarted barely two hours or so after a player was resuscitated, Benjamin Pavard apparently not being concussed and an inquiry into the political nature of an armband that has been worn by other players throughout this past season, it's been a banner tournament for UEFA's "priorities" (and that's before COVID, the multi-city format and the likely piss-ups for the UEFA Family)

Anyone seen odds on England getting a knock out game to penalties, and Pickford having the crucial one saved attempting a Panenka?

Ridiculous! Everybody knows Pickford's a Row Z man from way back.

Credit to Alaba for trying his best to shut him up literally.

That grab by the face was way underated imo.
