I agree with those whose knickers are slightly twisted that they are a decent team, esp at home, and they will not roll over and will make it quite difficult for us. Having said that, I also think we are going to just smash them to prove a point or 3 and there is sweeeetfa they can do about it.

Great news, I don't imagine they will have even travelled if there isn't a good chance of them actually playing.

If we're serious title challengers then we should be winning fairly comfortably, especially considering we've dropped the FA cup so that we regain fitness for this. How Arsenal fared against them has no relevance. Arsenal are not even close to being a challenger for the title.

If we're serious title challengers then we should be winning fairly comfortably, especially considering we've dropped the FA cup given some key players, who worked hard to win us 9 matches in December, a game off so that we regain fitness for this. How Arsenal fared against them has no relevance. Arsenal are not even close to being a challenger for the title.

I'd be a lot more confident with one of our regular centre back pairs, but VvD and Fabinho should be OK.

What young options do we have in the side?

Hoever seemed promising, but a bit green for the likes of the experienced Brighton striker.

I'm not remotely concerned about our centre halves. Assuming we go with Fabinho there, I think we'll see some good football from the pair to go with a general solidity. What's more of potential concern, which I'm sure will be eased when the lineup is announced, is how we set up in midfield without Fabinho.

We saw the other day how dysfunctional our midfield is without an effective 6. Hopefully if Henderson isn't available we don't play Milner in a similar role again. It really demonstrated how dumb this whole 'passes sideways and keeps possession' insult used against Henderson is.

If we're playing a similar midfield to the other day, which I wouldn't, I hope it's Keita paired with Gini (with Shaqiri ahead of them). If Milner is to play, I would hope it's in a three with Gini at the 6 spot because the other two are just too loose.

Thats bllocks though.  City lost at home to Palace, and whilst they wont get near the title Spurs lost at home to Wolves.  So whos are genuine title challangers then?

Would that be a talking point?

It's been a given for most of the week that he'd start there until it was reported this morning that Matip has travelled.

I think we'll find out in the month or so personally, City have proven they not only have the squad but the staying power too. We have a lot to prove still despite being brilliant in the first half of the season, long way to go yet.

Brighton are gonna play very defensive so we’ll need open them up! Our key players have had a long break so no excuse for plenty of energy to play at a high tempo

Gonna be tough but I’ll say 2-0

The good news is that their kind of defensive often involves a lot of a pointless passes around the back and between the centre backs and midfield. Hopefully it plays into our favour

Probably, what were you trying to say then?

You claimed we are not serious challangers if we dont win today. Away at a decent Brighton team. City lost at home to Palace. Losinhg at home to Palace is a much worse result than not winning at Brighton. So this would also mean City are not serious challangers.  Then there is Spurs at home to Wolves etc etc]

So to say not wining today means we are no serious challangers is bollocks

They've proven themselfs challengers over a period of time, the only point I'm making is that we have not. Admittedly if we lose today then go on to challenge in the final month then my point is void, we would have shown we can recover from 2 defeats on the bounce.

Don't be, it won't be easy they're good at home, but everytime the main team have needed a reaction we've had one. No reason to think it will be any different today.

I don't rate Brighton that high I suppose and I would be very surprised if any of the current top 3 dropped points to them.
