I think Hodgson has just swallowed his cyanide pill tonight by calling out the fans - he knows that there is no way back now and he has basically said "sack me NESV", a bit like Rafa did with Inter.

Let's hope JW Henry takes the hint and gets rid of him tomorrow.

He committed hari-kiri tonight.

If shanklyboy is reading this, is tomorrow the day that Benitez is meant to be at Anfield for a meeting? I recall you saying Thursday this week.

He wasn't being serious mate. He said himself via pm that he made it up to prove a point to a poster he was debating with.

A few points off the relegation zone....we've lost more games than we've won and it's pretty much January.

He needs to go before it's too late - and the way we're playing this season, we're not too good to get sucked into a relegation fight.

He has to go now.

His post-match interview just shows how he's not made for a top club... he's so used to being on the losing side of things and trying to manage mid-table clubs that he just doesn't get it that we EXPECT better performances and we DON"T EXPECT to lose to the bottom club in the league who hadn't scored against us for 26 YEARS, and it is because of HIS CRAP MANAGEMENT, not "passion".  I wouldn't waste an ounce of energy for him if I were a player, and the only shame for them tonight was that they didn't perform for the shirt.

I hate him more than anyone, hes disgraceful. The football we play, the interviews, the fact the media rim his arse every single aspect makes me hate him. If hes not sacked after that as well as defeats to Blackpool, Northampton and the worst start in years i refuse to watch us while he the impostor is at the helm.

If the supporters hadn't fully turned on Hodgson then they did tonight, I've never heard the kop take the piss out of a Liverpool manager like they did tonight. There is no way back for him and the atmosphere could get really nasty if we turn in more performances like that, nip it in the bud and sack him - put Kenny in until the end of the season if there is some lined up in the summer.
According to some half were happy to swap Rafa for Roy - and match going fans are happy to date. That's match going fans. Unless you go the match, and you'll find that's er..untrue and has been for months.

Still, what is Roy's song? Where is his banner? He had a lot of support amongst some fans - they can't surely be abandoning him now?? That would make them look like conplete imbeciles. If only I could get over CL finals and league title challenges eh?
There are always more fortresses to torch.

Why put the fans through this? Why put the players through this? As a player, gaining confidence under Roy must be next to impossible.

Don't know how much lack of "knowledge" or inexperience justifies keeping Roy as manager.

WE. JUST. LOST. TO. THE. WORST. TEAM. IN. THE. LEAGUE. AT. HOME.....and the manager had the gall to say after the game that it really should have been a draw.....AT. HOME. TO. THE. WORST. TEAM. IN. THE. LEAGUE.

this is the worst football we've played in 20 years and i'm beginning to question whether i should carry on going to the match - worst thing of all is the fact that 'Roy' couldn't even be arsed to get off the bench for a full 5 minutes after they scored!  and he's meant to be the motivator!!!!!
My sentiments exactly! Just substitute 20 years for 50!

It's mad to think, but unless the owners see sense soon, I can imagine protests and marches to get rid of Hodgson, who, let's face it, was appointed by Tom Hicks and George Gilette. Hodgson in most other clubs would easily have been well and truly sacked and forgotten by now. He is a disaster. I have a friend who was the biggest supporter of Hodgson taking over the club - we argued about him before our semi-final against Atletico. The friend in question is like a football encylopedia. I got a text from him tonight...

This is his text (unedited in any way):
10.23pm:

"Disgusting.  Patience gone with him."

I've been waiting every day for 2 months now for the deadly obvious to be put into action before more damage is done, if change had happened then I still believe we could have been competing for a CL spot, if nothing is done now then will be looking at this in two months talking about a relegation fight with someone like Kenny brought in with 8 games to save us much like Newcastle did with Shearer. For god's sake I think we'd probably better off without a manager in charge, Kenny, Phil Thompson, Souness, Carragher, Montse Benitez, My dog, any one of those could match or better what we have now.

I earlier posted that we were so afraid of becoming Newcastle that we were becoming Fulham, We are Newcastle right now, sacking the manager will not lead to crisis, we are in crisis right now. I don't honestly know how much more of this shit I am prepared to put up with, it is starting to damage NESV now and if it carries on they will take the blame for inaction.

I do not blame the players because I really do not think they are as bad as Hodgson would have us believe, he has sucked the confidence out of this team, this club, this family. If I am eating my tea tomorrow night and he is still at this club I will have no appetite.

For those who insist on waiting until the end of the season for action., FOR GOD'S SAKE WHY!, IT CANNOT GET ANY WORSE.

I must admit i was one of the get Rafa out brigade when things were bad last season how short sighted was i, I would take the man back in a instance. In all my 25 years of supporting Liverpool ive never seen so much dross in my life and that responsibility falls at the feet of Mr fucking Hodgson.  Surley NESV can't let this clown to continue. :no

I must admit I find it amusing how you're suffering now. It's partly because of people like you we're in the mess we're in. You gave the board the ammo they needed to sack Rafa. Had Rafa still had the majority of Anfield's backing at the end of last season there's no way they would have even thought about pulling the trigger on Rafa. We all tried to warn those like you last season but none of you listened.

The owners are in a tricky situation. Roy was always going to get the bullet as he's not their man. The question was more a matter of timing.

My belief was that there was no way on God's earth that they'd bullet him mid-season as they need time to implement a structure that gives them the possibility to make good decisions. This orderly implementation of a control framework is under pressure now as Roy is about as popular as Gary Glitter in the audience at the reception class's nativity play. Maybe they have to act but it's a delicate balancing act. They really will need to think about whether Roy can ride it out till the summer or whether bringing in Dalglish as a caretaker is the solution. This latter idea is a problem in its own right as Dalglish will forever cast a large shadow and may inhibit the success of any future manager.

I don't think FSG can ignore this any longer, it's headline news on every national news bulletin, you don't need to know anything about the sport to understand the magnitude of that !

I don't know about any players with exit strategies, but ill seriously be considering my season ticket renewal if this continues.

FSG, if you do really read these forums and listen etc....if you fail to act NOW, you'll not be finding a great deal of sympathy when your £300 million investment starts dwindling.

I get it that your not football people, if you don't act on this, I'm fairly confident that your credentials as businessmen will be seriously debated.
They have translated from Halmstads to Malmo, to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax, to the Swiss national team, so I find the question insulting.

Roy "The Blip" Hodgson has come of age.

Enter Roy "The Ruin" Hodgson.

He is the last remnant of a cancer which ran through the club. Finally the signs of sickness have again become so obvious that even the most ignorant (cough Sky cough) cannot ignore the symptoms any longer. Surgery is the only cure.

I remember everything about that day. Waking up and grabbing the laptop, checking RAWK for any news. Trudging off to work in the rain, planning my first Hicks and Gillett free Friday for three and a half years in my head. Taking myself off to Costa for the morning, constantly hitting F5 on RAWK and the Guardian's website. Then holding back tears of joy as it was announced that we'd won.

More waiting around, praying that NESV would hurry up and get the deal done. Watching the pictures of Broughton outside the courtroom flood in, loving the man for seemingly saving us. Then seeing Purslow with fists pumped, thinking 'bit early for that, Cecil lad'. More waiting. Just sat in front of my computer, hitting F5 on Twitter. Edelman turned up at the board meeting, as did Henry. We all got excited, as it seemed to confirm that NESV were going to buy us. We just needed an announcement... Something, anything to tell us that those bastards had gone.

And then came that statement from Hicks. He'd blocked the sale of the club. Again. At that moment, I wanted nothing more than for Hicks to die in agony there and then, for the World to see. I thought it was the end of the club.

So that's why, when we lose at home to Wolves, I remind myself that it could be a hell of a lot worse.

"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea and he conquered the bloody world! And that's what I wanted; for Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."
