I wonder how our season ticket list compares to other teams? like having about 30k on the list seems nuts. Why is ours so mad?

Combination of being incredibly popular and having a ground that isn't that big. I think we also have a smaller percentage of ST holders to capacity than other clubs - according to a quick Google search Man Utd have around 50,000 ST holders (almost the full capacity of our ground), which is about two-thirds of their capacity. We have about 27,000 ST holders, which is only about 50% of our total capacity.

A greater percentage of STHs means less members which means less money for the club

Indeed. Plus, the spend per head of an average ST holder at the match will be less than a non-STH. A typical STH will probably drink elsewhere, and maybe get into the ground 10 or 15 minutes before kick-off. Someone who comes maybe once or twice a season (maybe even a lifetime), possibly brings their kids will not only get in the ground earlier and buy food/drinks in there, they'll probably spend money in the club shop too before or after the game.

While our smaller capacity holds us back in terms of match day revenue compared to say Man Utd or Arsenal, it means that the club don't need to worry about selling out - the majority of games do. Combine that with the popularity of LFC, and they simply don't need to allocate as many STs as other clubs. Everton, for example, have more STHs than us on a smaller capacity. It's better for them to have that money guaranteed rather than rely on single ticket sales during the season, plus they won't have as many tourists going to the match as we do. On the flip side of it, Man Utd don't need to worry about their popularity but their stadium is huge, and a poor run of form (like at the moment) means that sales could suffer, and they'd have empty seats as a result, so it makes sense for them to have a lot of STs too. We're in a weird sweet spot in terms of capacity and popularity that no other club in the league is.

Makes sense. the father in law is a celtic ST holder and he says they have 50k season cards. The majority of the ground

Most other clubs don't have a list I don't think - Spurs did but not sure if theirs was cleared with the new stadium. Even United I think you can now pretty much get a ST every summer if you want one.

Yeah my GF's Dad & Bro gave their United STs up a while ago, and managed to get new ones in the summer without having to go on a waiting list.

There is a wait for a ST at Utd. 3 or 4 years I think

Me and my wife joined at the same time. Both got written confirmation, both then paid our £5 to remain on the list and also have confirmation of that too. My position is showing, but hers still isn’t even after checking back on and off the last few days. I’ve emailed them and waiting to hear back.

At one point you could join the season ticket waiting list by ticking a box when applying for a fan card. Can imagine that's when the list exploded as before that you had to write a letter to the club asking to go on.

I've moved 92 spots. 2500 places to go...
I've moved 78 places since it was last online, now at 3699.
Mate has moved up 75 to 3211

That can't be right. Surely the lower you are on the list the more you should move.

Yeah, the only thing is we'd all have to have the absolute last number before they closed it to get that right though.

Spoke to the club and it was something to do with my address changing recently, and I was still under that address on the list so it wasn't on my personal details... something like that.

I've dropped from 15,500 to 13,400. Joined in 2006

Don't know what it's going to take to get one in my lifetime

Yes that's correct, I got an email in May 2016 saying that they were releasing 2000 ST's, and as my position (at that time) was 2984 I was going to miss out.

A lot more of that was corporate though. We added 4500 general admission seats when the Main was done, and 2000 of those were STs. We are apparently adding around 5200 general admission seats in the Anny Road, so should hopefully see more than 2000 STs added. All just guesswork for now though.

Won’t be by much though as I can’t see us giving more than 3K.

Not correct. There has obviously been very little new STs issued. Let's say 50. That means 42 have dropped out but those that are moving 2000. 1950 have dropped out of the queue for various reasons (duplicates etc). That's why the ratio is different depending on where you are

I've just had to email the ticket office. Best not have fucked it up, been on since 1998

Last time I checked was March 2019 and was 1976.

I'd be intrigued if we joined on the same day/week being only 32 places apart.

Mine wasn’t showing so have queried it over the last couple of days. They hadn’t reallocated my position after the last update so now I have to have a new supporter ID number with my updated position on the STWL.

Bit annoying that they’ve fucked up but at least I’m still on the list and moved up 2029 places.
