Wander to the reception then and ask if they've got any rooms! ;)

Nah haven't heard from him Sasha, few of us not booked hotels yet.

LOLz. I am an idiot. :)
Just came back from a football tour and feel as though I've been hit by a truck.

Right, has anyone seen/heard from Nige? Just wandering about that hotel he mentioned - whether anything's happening or I should get off my *rse and book something myself.

Really sorry, I've let you down here by just not being around the last 3-4 weeks and not getting the hotel booked like i said I would a month ago.

The match is still very much on of course, 9pm on the Monday.

Who's still looking for a room ? It's getting dificult to find anything central & reasonable for the Tuesday but not impossible, p-m me if you're still looking for the Monday & Tuesday & I will get something booked within 24-36 hours from now, I PROMISE.

I was just gonna ask if you've got a thing for footie players with greasy hair who don't speak English... then spotted your little pic of Paddy Berger over there and decided it would've been a silly question.

Arriving in Milan early afternoon, will probs tag along with the people arriving in the morning (JP, Col...) as people i'll be staying with are only arriving late in the evening. Doubt i'll be playing, mind.

update - been working on this ALL DAY & am very close to booking 8 of us into somewhere convenient at around 32 quid each for the Monday night - that's Col, JP Sez, me, Pata, Raul, Marc Mendoza + AN Other)... would have done it by now but their system kept timing out just now and i got to go out ....

but we'll have to split up for the Tuesday and pay a lot more for that night, maybe 50 quid each, even up to 60, plenty of options  more details and p-ms  this evening

OK, so us 7 + AN Other are sorted for the Monday night.  Then Marc said he's not arsed about booking anywhere at all for the Tuesday night and I started thinking that we don't get out the stadium till nearly midnight and i might be drinking (same bar) till like 4am, and can get my bus from the Stazione Centrale to Bergamo airport at like 7am on the Wednesday , so I'm not booking anything for the Tuesday night either.

So that's just 5 to book for the Tuesday - are we looking at a double for Pata+Raul
and a triple for J-P & Col & Sez ? If so I'll p-m yers the links later on to the available places I think look the best, but like I said it's gona be Ł50-60 each.

Other news - Luca - their organiser - not coming to Anfield, can't get a ticket at the mo' - 45 of them applied only 5 got lucky.

Yeah, I'd definitely like a room to sleep off some of the boozing as my Bergamo flight back is late in the evening and I'd like some kip so that I am in a fit state to wander around Bergamo Wednesday afternoon. And I am good to share a double with Raul... rrrrrr... Positively looking forward to it. :)

Is there a confirmed location for the match yet? Also, where is this supporters' bar? Finally, these veterans - did any of them play in 1965? :)

What a palaver.  Already had to change the booking for the Monday (see p-m's ) but it's sorted, 42 Euros each. Not including brekky (5 Euros)

See p-m about the Tuesday night possibilities, and hopefully Mr. Pata will sort that shortly ... if you ask him nicely !

Replied to your PM Nige, will post here too so others know.

Monday, all good, well in nige. I'm happy to take the single room if I'm the only female.

I'm happy with whatever for the Tuesday, our flight is also late back on Wednesday from Bergamo (like Pata's) so will need a bed and a shower. No probs with whatever it costs- Sasha can you reserve for us?

Thanks all  :wave

Yeah, I'm a bit tied up in work at the moment but will try to get it done first thing tomorrow. Also, had a quick scan for places for Tuesday with the help of an Italian mate of mine (in addition to Nige's suggestion) - the best we could find was a 4* place for 100 EUR each, so probably a tad much.

Nice one mate ! That was one of the first places I loked at a few days ago & it was showing no availability for either night for 7 people, and for some reason I never went back to hostelbookers for the second night for 5 people !! well played !

OK I forwarded you all Sasha's P-M. Sorted.

Now let's get back to the footy - let's get in touch with everyone on the squad list, find out how many are definitely booked & all set  to meet up on the Monday about 7pm to get to the pitch, and if they're not, then let's recruit a few more.

I was just tidying up and found the newspaper article on our match in Barca a year ago. Great stuff. Bring it on !

Apologies for spazzing up the PMs - it was very early in the morning. :)
Now, couple of questions - where exactly are we playing? Where are we meeting? Where is the supporters' bar where we're gonna get inebriated? Veterans for oppo means over-35s, right?

Let me change the opening post of this thread asking everyone listed to confirm.

PS By the way, Raul. ain't sleepwalking anywhere - I am gonna keep him nicely tucked up by my side. :)

Now, couple of questions - where exactly are we playing? Where are we meeting? Where is the supporters' bar where we're gonna get inebriated? Veterans for oppo means over-35s, right?

Up to now I haven't wanted to hassle Luca too much about details, he says he's got it all in hand - don't worry he has organised several  such matches for visiting supporters' teams over the past few years (though this is the first time the match will accompany a CL game !). And Monday 9pm is a regular Kick off time for his boys anyway so if he says he has no doubts about the pitch, then he has no doubts about the pitch...

But I'll ask him for details this week so we know the best place to organise our 7pm meet-up. It may well be at the bar by nearest tube stop to our hotel, or it may not.

I'm assuming that he will offer us lifts to the ground (and back to the pub after) in several of their players' cars again like 2 years ago, but we will make sure all the details and maps etc are on here for anyone who accidentally misses the meet up or may need to dash up there at the last minute 'cos of flight times.

What does 'veterans' mean ? Dunno, don't care, there's no set definition, it means they'll be nice guys, like they were last time, and not as young and fast as their first team !  We were 1-1 at half time with them last time, before a combination of their visiting substitutes from a very nifty Ayr United supporters' team (old friends of theirs), our less regular substitutes, and very gloomy floodlighting that meant our keeper couldn't see all combined to mean we got well beaten 2nd half.

Actually I think they'll be a similar standard to that team we played in Barcelona.

I'll p-m you now with the details of their (=our) pub. Don't want it to be all over the net but will of course p-m it to all Rawkites & Raotlers who ask. They were serving United supporters till 5am after the CL semi, and I reckon it'll be hard to find many places like that when we get out the ground at midnight.

By the way obscure footy scarves that are not on the list of scarves that the bar owner already has on his wall (see his website) will probably get you a free pint or 2.
[ He supports Milan & Stoke City if you're wondering about the Stoke club news that always appears on his front page. Some of the Inter lads have formed a Port Vale SC to wind him up! His website also takes a pride in giving far too much detail about the Conference teams in the matches that his bar shows every week on Setanta ! ]

Let me change the opening post of this thread asking everyone listed to confirm.

You can add the time - 9pm Monday night to the title and take away the question mark too !

It's within 2 miles of the Tuesday night hotel, which is not bad in my book.
