I wonder how sharp he will be by the 1st. Good option coming off the bench though for sure.

I am sure there will be intense training sessions next 3 weeks...he will be sharpish..but assuming everyone is fit barring Keita, will be a tough to get on the pitch even though he could be in the 18.  Starting is pretty much ruled out - tough that one of Gini and Milner will be not starting (my hunch Fab, Hendo and Gini start).
Milner def ahead in terms of subs making it to the pitch. I hope we are not in a situation where Ox is needed which basically means we would be chasing a goal. Much rather we need Gomez/Lovren.
If we do get to extra time, i think 4th is allowed now which gives him a better chance but just hope we wrap it up in 90.

All above conjectures though!

He'll come on and put a thunderbastard shot past Loris, who will promptly retire from football and take up beekeeping and transcendental meditation, to ameliorate the shock and trauma

It would be great to see him come on sometime in the final.

When we’re coasting at 4-0. He can get the fifth. And the sixth.

He'll get the winner.  One more reason for Spurs fans to hate him. ;)

I know he is in the squad, but is he ready for the final? It would be a massive boost for us if he can play and contribute

Alas, at best a 10-15 minute cameo I suspect.  But I also imagine Spurs will brick it if he does come on. ;D

If it goes to extra time then I'd expect him to be in with a shout of being that extra sub, but I can't see him coming on before that because he'll be so far off the pace against a team like Spurs in a game like this.

I think Ox will make a big difference for us once back. He offers something from the middle of the park that we don't really have in any of the other midfielders in being a threat through the middle and getting off shots from distance. His very presence means the opposition has to at least think a little more about being more compact in central areas, which of course, frees up the wide areas a bit more, and we all know how much we need the space out there. In those games where we can't get through it will be players like Ox that will make the difference, either directly, or indirectly.

I'm surprised this hasn't been announced, given no1 is free at the moment.

Weird that we offered him an extension when he's already signed through 2022 and coming off a catastrophic injury. Unless there's something I'm missing?

Think it's just a bit of a reward for what must have been a pretty disheartening season. Sounds like a nominal wage increase and just a bump of an additional year.

Arguably increases his value given he is further away from his contract end date. His wages don't appear to be bumped to a level which would prohibit a transfer if someone was willing to pay decent money.

I'm going to be optimistic and take it as a sign that the management think he can get back to his previous level.

Had that offer come before this January, I'd understand it better, but the timing seems a bit off from outside the club. That will raise his spirits, I get it, and we may rely on him in the beginning of the season, but we could have waited a couple of months into the season to make that judgement. I hope it's for the best as he's a good player and a good chap.

If he returns to form, yes that helps the value. But then we wouldn't be looking to sell him anyway.

I would've guessed we'd be looking to mitigate the injury risk, not double down on it!  :D

The club hierarchy has proven they know what they're doing, and it's a very minor thing in the grand scheme, but I still find it very strange.

Not sure it was necessary just yet. Coming off the back of a long term injury, I would have let him play for an extension. He still had years left on his current one. Club knows better than me though. If he finds the form he was in before getting injured, this will be a non issue anyway. Thats the big question.

I'm sure I read something a while back that we'd now moved towards an approach of rewarding players with new contracts for their performances/efforts rather than waiting until they have 2 years left. Perhaps the club have seen Chamberlain put a lot of effort in getting back to fitness and remaining part of the group socially as well and thought that deserved recognition.

Edit: He also seemed to strike up a great relationship with Brewster whilst they were on the treatment tables, I imagine that was massive for Rhian being such a young player going through such a long time out.

It sounds ludicrous when you put it like that but getting paid millions to play football is ludicrous anyway. Besides the extra cash is not just from that, we’d hope to get an extra full season out of him too.
