I think he's only really to talking to us, he can't give details without landing himself in the shit, but he can hint and he knows we'll be all ears and put two and two together.

As ever, I don't think he gives a shite about the press, he was only ever interested in talking to the fans.

I would say Rafa epitomises "TLW" as you put it. He has loads of clueless bellends within the press having a pop at every chance they got to ask questions, describing opinions as facts and most of the time making up 'facts'.

If he just sat back and said fuck all I would lose alot of respect for him. It's one of Rafa's best traits IMO that he won't stand for any shit from the media, I love it.

Absolutely mate.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Can't do any harm with Purslow's role at the club being decided by the new owners at the moment, we really need to get rid.

So Rafa confirms something it was also something to do with some of the players he should have named names.

Rafa has got a right to be angry over the way he was treated at the end but he also has to take reponsibility for a lot of the mistakes he made himself throughout his reign. Blaming Purslow for everything just doesn't cut it. I know he's pushed to comment by the Sky reporters but he should just tell them to get lost.

I'm sure he'll be the first to admit the mistakes he made in a more appropriate situation, like a book or an interview. This was in response to repeated questioning so he just mentioned the primary concern.

When was Purslow on OUR side.

1. When he fiddled the SOS minutes

2. When he told bare faced lies about the transfer budget including wages

3. When the manager was telling Alonso that we wanted him to stay and how much the fans loved him and Purslow was trying to swap him for Van De Vaart.

4. When he held his tunnel press conferences with journalist's

5. When he briefed Maddocks and orchestrated a media campaign to remove the manager.

6. When he stopped talking to Mascherano when a deal was agreed

7. When he pulled out of a free deal to sign Chamakh, when the player and his agent had agreed to join.

8. When he started talking to Hodgson in January about replacing Benitez.

9. When he started moves to sell Insua.

10, When he tried to silence RAWK with legal action over something that was freely available in the public Domain.

11. When he started negotiations to bring in Joe Cole without the managers knowledge.

12. When he knifed Benitez in the back when he was on holiday and Carra and Gerrard where safely tucked away on a plane to South Africa.

13. When he allowed Kenny to be used to legitimise a managerial selection process even though as Hodgson freely admits he had been talking to Liverpool for months.

14. When he Allowed Kenny to pitch for a Gig that had already been filled.

15. When he Negotiated a deal with Rhone that would of allowed Hicks and Gillet to stay indefinitely and totally dismantle and destroy our Club.

Purslow was appointed and worked for Hicks and Gillet, he helped them destroy our Club and the sooner we see the back of the lying deceitful snake the better.

Great post. Should be made compulsory reading.

Guess it was one of those times you should have stuck with the devil you know Rafa. Parry or me eventually became both of us but if Purslow is not up for the job and Rafa helps with his removal then the club will benefit.

No manager ever hasn't made mistakes, & Rafa is no different. The difference is Rafa admitted them, Purslow won't/hasn't. Either way Rafa's good decisions far outweigh the mistakes & I for one welcome his warning about Puslow & hopefully NESV take notice too.

He came out in perfect timing. We are looking to appoint a new board and I don't want Purslow anywhere near it. Rafa is very clever with this interview, he want to make sure that the new owners know anout Purslow.
If Rafa doesn't love this club and care for it, he coud say fuck all. In the end, his club is 2nd in Series and top of the table in the CL, and we are at rock bottom, there is nothing for him to regret leaving here.

Someone the other day said that Purslow could be compared to Churchill, an effective war time leader, but for peace time he was no good and had to go. He made football decisions that he was totally unqualified to do, and in reality has set us back on the pitch possibly a couple of years. I forgive him personally, because his main task was to rid of us of the plague, and he did, and maybe last summer it was all just too much to keep rafa and gerrard/carra happy AND deal with the fuckers at the same time. We'll never know. But now, he must be removed immediately from being anywhere near football, which probably means he should move on. It would be difficult for him, but really I wish he would just resign with some dignity and get on with his life.

But the wreckage, and Rafa leaving, and the bad season, All of it was because our club was sick from the top down, and it infected everything......shit, purslow was only there in the first place because the club was at war, and rbs wanted a snake to fight to restore the club to balance. I can't blame purslow, he just reacted to the train wreck he found, and you cannot expect a snake to behave with wisdom. Wisdom would have kept rafa, but would the fuckers still be here?

thank you so much for this post ,this is what i wanted to write but to be honest i could't be arsed.i knew others will be shooting it down right away just cause they dont agree with it , CP thank you for what u did but  please pack up and ........

What has Rafa said exactly?

Benitez points finger at Purslow

Rafael Benitez has blamed Liverpool's decline after 2008-09 on the appointment of managing director Christian Purslow.

Liverpool finished second in the 2009 Premier League but, despite the expectation that they would be serious challengers once more, they finished seventh last season and Benitez was sacked.

Now at Inter Milan, Benitez has said it was the appointment of Purslow in June 2009 that changed matters at the club and he believes that was the deciding factor in the collapse.

"I prefer not to talk too much about Liverpool," he said. "I prefer not to talk about this because I feel really sorry for the fans. I was watching the fans and I was really sad after the defeat the other day (against Everton).

"We have a saying in Spanish, which is: 'White liquid in a bottle has to be milk'. What does this mean? It means that after 86 points and finishing second in the league, what changed?

"The Americans, they chose a new managing director and everything changed. So, what changed?

"The managing director is involved in all the decisions: new lawyer, new chief of press, new manager, nine new players, new medical staff, new fitness coaches - they changed everything.

"At the beginning, they changed the managing director who was talking with some players, and they changed everything that we were doing in the past. So, if you want to ask again what was going on, it's simple: they changed something and, at the end, they changed everything.

"So, white liquid in a bottle: milk. You will know who is to blame."

Pressed further on the matter, Benitez would only say: "White liquid in a bottle. If I see John the milkman in the Wirral, where I was living, with this bottle, I'd say, 'It's milk, sure'."

Purslow remains at Liverpool and was a key figure in helping New England Sports Ventures (NESV) to secure the takeover against the wishes of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Don't know how Purslow is getting so much credit on here if I'm honest. He voted with Ayre and Boughton against the yanks sure, but what else do you expect?

The way I see it if he was down to the sacking of Rafa he's getting no respect or praise from me. We just needed to hold on to Rafa for 6 months more. I think we could have had the title sown up within the next couple of years if we kept Rafa and NESV came in and listened to what he wanted. In the meantime could anyone see us being worse off right now with Rafa still here? No.

I will never forgive G&H for what they have done to this club, and their presence which resulted in the sacking of Rafa is one of the key factors. Absolute wankers.

There is alot to be done, CP needs to go, RH needs to go, even the players have to go, if the suggested player power turns out to be true. It'll be a long and arduous rebuilding process, but i believe that's the only way for us to be great again.

Can't believe everything Rafa built undone in a matter of months.

He was instrumental in attracting the Standard Chartered sponsorship but this was the job he was hired and well paid for.
Football is not and should never have been his forte. Rafa is outing him for the interfering and obstructive way he abused his position.
(I believe.)
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.
