It's not Fifa that you get licenses for leagues etc. They just allow the fifa name and world cups. The licenses are bought separately. Ea still have theirs for a while. Be nice for them to start letting more companies have the licenses honestly.

2024 Fifa will be made by a new developer. Fifa 23 is the last from Ea, will then be EA sports FC or whatever shite name they picked. Hopefully competition will be good but I doubt it.

I'm still waiting for a footy manager game with depth but the match engines of Fifa. Its 2022 maaaan

Realistically something like this has been easily possible for a very long time, it's just that it's never suited the company with the resources to achieve it to actually make it - EA.

Could easily have an FM style management sim that allows you to play the games properly.

I think it’s alright, especially as a PS Plus game.

It isn’t amazing though, lots of bugs such as advertising the game that you’re already playing as an upcoming game on career mode.

One thing I’ve noticed is that if you’re ahead and want to see the game out that you can just pass it around on the halfway line or 2 thirds inside your half and the opposition won’t really press you? Totally takes the nervy 1-0 etc out of the game a it’s easy to see the time out. I’m playing it on professional so not sure if that changes on higher difficulties but nevertheless it’s shit

Got this a while ago on Steam offer but hadn't played until recently - doing so has just made me angrier with Konami for destroying Pro Evo.

Utter, utter dogshit: probably the worst net code I have ever experienced in an online game, mediocre graphics, disjointed commentary, unrealistic physics, terrible keepers… I could go on.
An absolute dumpster fire from start to finish.

Now that it’s free on ps plus - is it worth the massive download if I’m just going to play career mode?

Can’t really be bothered with online - in fact I haven’t played online properly since they changed the defending buttons which must be about 6-7 years or so?

Had another go over the weekend and just couldn’t get on with it. The defending especially I find really frustrating and unresponsive. I might just be rusty but I play games for fun and it just doesn’t seem fun!

I would get over defending if all teams in the entire game didn't attack and play in exactly the same way. All of them. There is no variety. Tactics, formations, individual player strengths mean absolutely nothing - it's always the same way of attacking, same goals scored against you and it's played at same speed (maximum). I know most people buy this for Ultimate team, but FIFA had a very decent patch some ten years ago where playing on manuals controls against AI wasn't this terrible. Obviously they don't develop the AI because they don't have to - their money comes from kids online.

Yeah its not a great game at all, I do think you need to do the skill games to get the most from it though. The last one I played was FIFA 20 and when I picked this up every time I tried to cross it was just looping straight out of play. Still baffles me that PES essentially perfected football games 15 years ago and they've got progressively worse.

Only really played Ultimate Team since downloading this on ps plus but would agree with some others have said about defending. Seems to be the same goals scored over and over again when I score and when conceding. Obviously it’s designed into the game but why the fuck is there literally acres of space between the defensive line when attacking  and defending? Makes it way to easy to score and concede so doesn’t really feel like you achieved much when you score and just frustrates the fuck out of you when someone scores against you.

Yep PES in the late 00’s was the gold standard of gameplay for any football game before and since. Didn’t feel scripted or that you were playing an arcade version of a game that forces high scoring. Since then wether through tinkering or deliberately making the game worse to shout about upgrades in future titles gameplay has gone down a fast and sharp decline.

Haha, the AI is shite.

Score a goal.

Pass back to your CB.

Stand still, facing your goal.

That's it. The AI won't tackle. If you don't move, they don't move. You might get a player approaching, but you can do a little pass you don't even have to move your players. Win a match by just passing it. I went 15 in match minutes without touching my controller

They know they've got the market though, thats the annoyance. You can't beat playing a randomer at football over the internet and beating them, and they know how addictive FUT is. I got it free through PP and have a good team now (a load of team of the season players, a few 'shapeshifters') and haven't spent a penny on it...but have spent a bit of time, cos it is an addictive game.

Its basically Fantasy Football, you get 'packs' (kinda like football sticker packs) with various players of different levels, you can earn them through playing different challenges, against the computer or other teams, and obviously you can buy packs yourself for real money.

At least soon enough there will be another option, as there will be your usual Fifa - aka EA Sports Football Club - and the new Fifa, made by some as of yet unnamed developer.

Been playing it for a while now as O got it for free via PS Plus.

I don’t bunk it’s as bad as everyone makes it out to be - career mode gets boring quickly but that’s always been the case.

I think the gameplay is alright, there’s some really good aspects to it (like defensive positioning to cut out passing lanes), and some not so great stuff such as it being high on impossible to create a decent chance from a cross.

I’ve being playing seasons online and got myself into the fifth division, what’s infuriating is everyone playing as fucking PSG.

It's not a bad game, it's probably the best game of football you can get at the moment, that says more about the lack of competitors that it does for the actual quality of FIFA, back in the 90s and early 2000s there were lots of different football franchises, now there's really only 2.

seasons is a pain for that, all psg. They could shake up that mode by making you have to change teams every 3 games or something

It's designed for Pay to Play, so it's near impossible to build a world class team without spending on points for packs.

There used to be a third party service online where you could buy coins for dirt cheap, you'd basically pay them £3-£5 and list a crap player on the transfer market for 100,000 coins, and they would buy them off you. EA quickly put a stop to it introducing "Price Ranges" on players to stop you listing 58 rated players for 100k.

Not really true. I've never spent a penny on points, in fact the opposite I usually sell my coins around team of the season (sold 38m for over £600 this year).

Obviously you can't make that much without trading but anyone can easily make a couple of million just playing the game with rewards etc.

Sure they want you to spend money but you can assemble a good team just with rewards, objectives, sbcs and spending coins earned playing the game.

I've never spent a cent on it.

Courtois
Robertson
Van Dijk
Ramos (booo)
TAA

Fabinho
Frankie De Jong
Thiago

Diaz (some shiny one rated 95)
Kane
Salah

Most are shiny and have brilliant ratings, Fabinho the lowest rated player in my side at 86.

I don't play it often, but you seem to pack better players in rewards now, probably because it's towards the end of its cycle.
