Now living in Brighton, I know that an unfortunate amount of their fans have a irrational strong dislike for Liverpool FC and jump on any opportunity to criticise. They also love to dispel what they call the 'myth' of Liverpools great support. I just hope we can get a good atmosphere going and not let them out sing us and bang on about it for years, although I hate to say that will probably be the case.

None the less, a win should be on the cards in another competition we should be looking to get far in.

Was born in Brighton and lived there my whole life until 6 months ago. Can tell you that this is not true remotely on the whole, you must have spoken to a few bad eggs. In fact, a lot of Brighton supporters have Liverpool as their "prem team". Brighton fans are also a lot more knowledgeable than most and have been calling for the likes of Poyet and stable ownership for years.

Coates is an accomplished player for his age and a title winner in Uruguay, who was due a start after signing and Robinson has first team experience and it was a mixture of youth and experience with Carra, Lucas, Spearing etc.
I feel this game would not be the right time to blood a very young player like Sterling etc you might feel different about it, I've already explained my feelings on the matter, everyone has different opinions on it.

So when would you blood them? If not against an opponent from the league below?

In a league match against Premier League opposition like Flanagan and Robinson were? Throw them in against Man City or Arsenal as they were respectively.

The only reason Robinson has first team experience is because he was given it. Just like Suso/Sterling/Silva or whomever it is needs to be given it.

Every single match is must win for us, and every match comes with pressure. They'll never get a chance if we're this afraid of seeing what they can do.

Well clearly given all the circumstances, and the opinion of coaches and professionals from the youth upwards, those players were ready at the time and realistic and reasonable options. Obviously the people at the club don't think this for the 16 year old Sterling who's been at the club for very little time and hasn't grown up with the tactics promoted in our youth ranks. Its as simply as that really.

Edit: I mean if Kenny really thought Sterling was ready and was going to be effective, he'd play him, wouldn't he? He had no problem doing that for the youth players you're talking about, so clearly he's not afraid of doing it.

I think we should go for the stronger team. Given the circumstances, the only way to move on is to win the next 3 matches.

For Brighton, I like to see

Johnson--Strkel-- Coates--Enrique

---Henderson-- Spearing--Gerard---

---Bellamy---- Caroll ----- Suarez

I'd put out our strongest 11 possible, we have the CC final a full 7 days after so there should be no real fatigue issues.

Why do people want Carra for this one? Not another game within a week before or after, Agger will be well rested. Kenny has shown that no team is to "easy" not to be taken seriously, so this will be a first XI-game. Carroll starts for me, not sure about Suarez. Suarez and Gerrard really occupy the same spot on the field for me.

Hoping Carroll starts, he was just starting to look up for it and more lively before he got benched again this weekend.  Preferably he won't be a lone striker though. Either Suarez or Bellamy playing off him, don't mind who.  My hope is that we put out a strong xi and not understimate them, with a week before the CC final we shouldn't be worried about fatigue.

The longer the game goes on with scores level the more dangerous it gets. Don't take anything for granted, just put this to bed as early as possible.

Full strength team from now until the end of the season. We have one match per week so there should be no need to change the lineup barring injuries.

My preferred lineup:

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Henderson Gerrard Adam
Suarez Carroll Bellamy

The goalie and the back 4 pick themselves.

Carroll up top with both Luis and Craig playing off him, probably with spearing, Adam and possibly Jonjo?

I dunno, just make it a strong side and fucking go out there to twat them.

I will be watching this on a foreign stream though so I don't have to listen to the odious c*nts fucking go on about the game that's just gone and those incidents.

First thing I want to see is 11 players with passion in their hearts and in the way they play. It was lacking in far too many players yesterday, and Kenny needs to look some in the eye, and see if it is there before choosing his team.
Let's also never forget the 39!

We must go all out to win this and the Carling Cup. The best way to end all this crap would be to make those bastards on SKY have to show pictures of us lifting trophies again, with Suarez dancing around like a madman with a trophy in the air and a fucking great big grin on his face.

I'd like to see something along the lines of this:

                Reina

Kelly Carragher Coates Aurelio

                Adam

Maxi        Henderson    Bellamy

        Suarez      Carroll

Gives Suarez a chance to get more match fitness and the fringe players some valuable game time.

Do we have anyone close to triggering a ban for the number of yellow cards totted up? If so, rest them ahead of the CC final. I'd also rest a few players that have seemed a bit tired - Johnson, for instance. Spearing and Gerrard are a bit tired too after their injury layoffs, so I'd either give them the game off, or at least part of it. There's a few others who deserve 'resting' for another reason too.

This would be a good game for fringe players like Aurelio and Coates to feature in, but really, without meaning any disrespect to Brighton, any team with Bellamy and Suarez in it should be far too good for them. We just have to take the chances that come our way.

Agree. Bellamy is such a big game player for us and I hope we'd have enough to sort Brighton at home without using him. Suarez should start too, to get a normal game under his belt and get some match sharpness going. I hope Suarez and Carroll play together up front.

Looking forward to the game.

Youngsters and Suarez & Carroll as mentioned above, maybe not Suarez till later. Perfect. I hope all the big teams drop out but of course that's just a dream.

Flanagan Wilson(chances or that..) Carra/Coates Robinson

                      Spearing   Adam

Downing                                   Maxi

                          Carroll Bellamy

Half way through my team build up i realised that Brighton are actually quite a strong team. Wanted Kelly at RW just to see how he does. I see people are picking Fabio, if fit then yeah that seems a decent option too, maybe even at LW is we are leading after a bit.
