Wales will take two right backs to the Euros. Connor Roberts of Swansea is a certainty and will start the tournament as first choice as he's been excellent for Wales over the last two years. The second RB as it stands will be Chris Gunter, a great servant for Wales with 96 caps but who is by now Reading's second choice RB (and has hardly started for Wales in recent years).

As a Welshman, taking Neco to the Euros is a no brainer! Considering that Ampadu has been one of the first name on the Welsh teamsheet for the past two years (when he's played a grand total of 3 league games for Chelsea/Leipzig), I think Giggs will take him.

All I know is that I rewatched the full 'Shrews-buried' match again and Neco was boss. Looked absolutely ready to play at higher levels, whether that be in the league or cups or internationals

Probably better off playing for Wales anyway. Less vitriol, less attention. I'm sure Klopp will make sure they don't ruin him.

How is that even comparable?

England has/had Walker and Trippier, two proven Premier League/Champions League playing right backs.

Wales has a couple right backs plying their trade in midtable Championship obscurity.

What a national has or hasn't got should have nothing to do with picking players who may or may not be ready. If he was ready, he would've played some minutes for our first team. He would already be the main backup for TAA.

Treat him right and let him develop and he could win 100 caps for Wales. Why be so desperate for players now that you put undue pressure on the lad?

I would be inclined to trust Klopp over Giggs anyday.

Err nobody is saying that we are trusting giggs over Klopp, we are giving you reasons why Wales are picking players who haven't played regularly and why that's different when it comes to England.

It's blatantly obvious.

Mighty Red you're living in a diffrent era mate. This situation with Neco happens pretty much on a regular basis now with talented players.

Yep, Carl Jenkinson is one, given one international game in 2012 to make sure if he came good, he'd play for England rather than Finland.

Would propably be going to the euros if he'd chosen differently.

I think the qualification rules need a rethink, as it is totally unfair on players to be given caps simply to ensure they can't turn out for another country. Obviously the countries are only doing it to protect themselves but it doesn't always work as the case with Rice.

I would say that if you have less than 10 caps (either competitive or friendlies) you can still turn out for another county after a set qualification period, say 5 years since last appearance.

That would ensure that those deemed not good enough for one country can still have an intl career.

Having watched it again with a bit more attention this time, I really like Van Den Berg. The press-resistant CM as well (was it Chirivella who was consistently receiving it under pressure?).

Yes VDB was surprisingly good, based on his previous outings. He's suddenly gone up a few levels. Very calm and in control. Chirivella and Jones also played well. In fact only the attack really stuttered; the rest of the game was pretty solid and redolent of the first team with only a few youth/inexperience-induced errors.

It was a great advert for the concept of development. And the need for patience. Players, and teams, improve. Experience breeds development. It's all looking fairly rosy for a lot of those lads

Jones, Elliott and Williams will progress to our first team squad. Hoever and Van Den Berg looked good against Shrewsbury, but is Hoever too short for CB? Do any of the others look good in multiple roles?

Giggs can fuck right off the knob! They are talking about given him his debut for Wales before he's even played a premier league game for us.

This should be nothing to do with age, you should only start playing games for your country when you are a regular playing member of a 1st team squad.

I know Wales don't have that big a pool of talent compared to bigger countries but this is the type of shit they pulled with Ben Woodburn and I'm sure it has contributed to him not progressing as well as we thought he would.

Let the boy develop properly then when he's ready for international football, let him make his mind up on which country he wants to represent.

Wales, and Giggs, are well aware of his abilities and whether he’s ready for the first team. He’s been playing in the youth teams.

He’s also from Wrexham, and anyone suggesting he’d want to play for England is completely wrong.
We aren't walking through the storm now - we are the storm.

Yep. He’s ready.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Definitely don't need another RB. What a pass for Mo, amazing. I wonder if a few years into the future, it will reach the point where he's so good TAA moves into #6 position.

Not this shit again.

Exactly, once TAA has moved to CM and Neco has moved to RW it’ll obviously be Hoever at RB (until he moves to CB)
