Had a review meeting with the haematologist this week - four months since the last one.

I was told my lymphocytes (white blood cells) are now back to normal levels - same as someone who doesn’t have my condition.

He suggested another review in 6 months which can be done over the phone.

He finished the appointment by saying “I told you I’d give you a second life”

Which, to be fair, he did say back in April.

Excellent news that , enjoy your Xmas

My colleague at work in the same position as me went to our Xmas party, all was fine.. Next day they had a seizure and collapsed.
Diagnosed with a Brain tumour over the Xmas break.  Operated last week and they found more tumours and they got a blood clot on their lung.  It seems that any chance they had a full recovery now seems to have gone. Three kids under 12.
It came so out of the blue and is so horrific that it just doesn’t seem real.

A couple of years ago a trainee colleague was acting very strange, wandering round the place and not really being where he should be. I reported this to his mentor and expressed concern about his mental state. He was being so weird. We agreed to suggest he go see a doctor and released him for the afternoon. He went to the doc's surgery and was referred immediately to the hospital for a brain scan. They found a shadow on his brain and he was in surgery within 48 hours to remove a tumour. He immediately left the training programme and I lost touch.

Two years later I received an email from him requesting a phone call. I rang him and he told me that my intervention had saved his life. While it is not curable he he able to live with it. He was about to run a marathon to raise money for a brain tumour charity. He had a young child who will have a dad as she grows up.

A good news story and a life lesson to not be afraid to let someone know they're being a bit odd! Having had my own health concerns since this incident, it hits even harder as a good news story.

Thought I would share.
