Or spun back into play for them to score.

Hasn't T Rex done that before?

Seems to jog a memory, but can't be sure.

Had little to do today but one more for his highlight reel near the end when he came to tackle outside the box and then got back to make the save. He's brilliant but a nutjob. I love it.

The save after coming out was just amusing to me, defenders hold off the opponent then Alisson just makes the save look routine

His distribution with his hands is insane, the throws to the fullbacks with a player lurking trying to intercept are just perfect, player never has to even break stride

Reina had 14 CS from our first 19 PL games in 05/06, but conceded 11.

Alisson is on 12 CS and 7 conceded.

I’d say Alisson’s is better so far given the goals he’s conceded haven’t been in losses.

Right now is a small sample set (19) but given our form and if we continue our trajectory (which there is good reason to believe is sustainable across seasons with what Klopp has set up), he should be really up there in terms of win percentage.

Agree, must be the best historically even with the great teams of the past, undefeated record plus should be the best win percentage so far if we look at a 19 game set from debut.

He's absolutely immense. I had never watched him play much and didn't get what the fuss was about or for that matter how much better he was than Mignolet and Karius. The answer is clear now and he is levels above the two. Outstanding again vs Newcastle with the rush out of the goal, the presence to get the Newcastle player to delay the shot and then the save.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Exactly. Its so hard to gauge the difference a world class keeper makes unless you see one week in week out. I never really put much thought into needing a world class goalkeeper because the basic skillset seemed oversimplified and Reina used to do the simple things right always. You never sort of think there's more to it unless you see it regularly. And that is why his brilliance can be lost on fans from other clubs who would feel we exaggerate because it isnt normal for a goalkeeper to have so much in their locker. Until this season I thought prime Reina was the level of a world class keeper. In half a season Allison's blown that away. Reina was fantastic, but Allison is something else and I pray he keeps this up for the next decade with us because he's worth a dozen points or more every friggin season.

I don't think anyone, Klopp, Alison, Edwards, Roma fans, et al, were expecting him to click this well. I think there's just a chemistry at the back with Ali, VVD and Robertson that you can't bottle.

Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him

Yeah Roma fans were defo expecting this, they were fuming he was sold, thought the fee was way too little and were saying he was the best in the world. Watching their games on BT last season was mad, they'd get battered, he'd save every thing then they'd usually get an undeserved win. Teams like Sampdoria were going to Rome and putting up 10 shots on target. Inter away they got hammered and he saved everything till they finally got one late on. Think Alisson also got an assist in that game.  ;D That seemed a regular theme, the batterings, and no surprise they've nearly conceded as many already this season as they did in the whole of last season.

I don't know when the last time that we had a keeper that had the "throw" in his repertoire - he can throw the ball out to start an attack 30-40-50 yards right to the feet of our players bypassing multiple defenders. Love it.*

*side note - he's been pretty good about kicking it long when needed lately - watching Chelsea yesterday - they almost turned the ball over 4-5 times about 5 yards from goal because they were adamant that they needed to play from the back.

Yeah, I just checked. They conceded 28 goals last season. They’ve conceded 24 by game 18 this season, less than halfway through. After game 18 last season, they’d let in only 12 goals.

It's coachable, but you have to get them to work on it from under 10s or thereabouts. That's why there's a huge push to not pigeonhole young kids as keepers just yet at those ages, so that they develop the field skills they'll need for the modern game, later on

Barnes and Beardsley. Went 28 unbeaten that season, not sure if they played in every game without looking. Houghton maybe but he didn’t join til around October I think. Aldridge maybe but he might have lost one or two at the back end of the previous season.
