If we win our next game, we’ll only be 2 points behind what City had last season after 23 games (we beat them that week 4-3).

For them to win the next 16 games they'd have put together the greatest run in premier League history. And, depending on goal difference, we could draw 2 games in that time and the league would still be ours.

They'll drop points though. It's just a question of when.

We will both drop points. If we drop three less it’s ours.

Rafa will let us beat Newcastle 25-0 second last game of the season if it comes to it.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

After this amount of games last year,
 City had 62 points.
United - 47
Chelsea - 46
Liverpool - 44
Spurs - 41

This year, 3rd and 4th spot pretty much is the same in comparison to last year.

Results comparison thread is updated for match 22

Be the longest 4 months of my life this.

It’s like the last 5 or 6 matches of 13/14 dragged out over months. The wait between each game is unbearable and you can’t go 5 mins in the day without thinking if we’re going to win it or not.

I've been to hell and back in the last four years and my ability to recall memories is now very poor due to stress, but that's just brought it all flooding back, thanks mate. Not being able to wait to get in the car to drive back to Anfield, getting the pre-match brekkie with nerves jangling, getting on the ale and sitting on the petrol station wall whilst having a can or four in the sun during that great spring. Bring it back. I fucking wish I hadn't lost my league history. Enjoy it, lads.

I know mate. It is tough to not think about it and it’s only January.

I think everyone just has to remain calm. The players will be calm and just be focused, but most importantly not think too far ahead.

Right now the most important game is Crystal Palace. Nothing else matters.

I read in the Echo that we have an 11 day break after the next game due to the FA cup 4th round.  Klopp is taking the squad away for some warm weather training

We have two home matches coming up against sides we are far superior too with plenty of time to prepare, a couple routine victories and we we have regained our momentum, and City will be another slip away from falling dangerously far behind again. We just have to keep it tight at the back and letting our match winners put the sides outside the top 6 to the sword week in and week out like we have been doing all season

I'd like to put a caveat in there to prevent a repeat of our last prematch vacay catastrophe.

Beat Palace and we get warm weather RnR near sunny Spain.

Fuck it up and we get Blackpool for a week.

The top teams have been really good. I imagine Poch has taken up drugs and Sarri has increased his ciggie intake. Emery was moaning a while ago how shit it is to be unbeaten for so long and still be 4th or 5th.

Haha turns out they were just shit.

Doesn't quite work like that because if we drop points we are guaranteed to drop goal difference. They dropped points so their GD dropped but were still level with 7 less points at that point. So if we dropped 7 points like them then our GD will be automatically worse again. But either way not that worried...

Goal difference is definitely an issue. If we have a better goal difference than them we can afford to drop points in 2 fixtures (4 points = 1 loss/1 draw or 2 draws). With a worse off goal difference, we can only afford to drop points in 1 fixture.

Assuming City win all 16 matches whilst fighting on 4 fronts.

I’m not going to say it won’t come to goal difference, because the way it seems to be this season it honestly wouldn’t surprise me, but it’s not something to worry about at this stage. If we only drop points in 3 more games we’ll win the league. City simply will not win all 16 of their remaining matches and if they somehow do achieve that, they’ll be winning the league on points not goal difference.

We really should be taking this one game at a time etc etc so after this I’ll stop. ;D

But yesterday I notice our final four fixtures are Cardiff away, Huddersfield home, Newcastle away and Wolves home. You couldn’t really ask for better than that to be honest. Certainly better than fucking Chelsea t home as per 13-14.

It's at the Etihad.

As our City's remaining games against Arsenal and Chelsea.

They have United away. Then Everton (10th) is the only other team they play away out of the current Top 10.

To be honest it's similar for us though we also have West Ham away.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Exactly, we don't NEED them to drop points, if they do, it's a massive bonus but as long as we do our jobs it's no problem whatsoever.

Still a lot of football to be played, but City can't really afford to drop many points from here on in...

Even finishing the season with 15 wins and 1 draw in the remaining games they would still be reliant on us dropping 6/7 ponints
