Last I heard it was a 10 year long waiting list for ST's.

Although that was in 2006 ;)
Was then years in 2003 as well... I've been on it fucking ages.

£5 ffs, the price of a fish supper,
if it were a quid people would still complain.

The "List is 10 years" business is crazy. I mean, if we go with an assumption that only 10,000 people of the 75,000 on the list would accept a season ticket, then a 10 year list would mean a return of 1000 ST a season. I don't think anyone knows official figures, but I bet it is les than a 100.

So a 10,000 ST list would be closer to 100 years long.

It just shows why the ST list needs sorting out and cleansing.

I have a feeling that by doing this the club is looking at how serious fans are in wanting season tickets to see if either development of Anfield or building a new staduim is the way forward I.E

Of the 25.000 say between 15 and 25 thousand confim they are still interested, then the club may feel they have the fanbase to look at building a new stadium.

Or

If less than 15 thousand confirm, they may feel that there isnt enough fans interested to warrant a new 60.000 seater stadium and that a redeveloped Anfield with 50-55 thousand seats is more realistic.
Its the Liverpool way and its the only way!

There must be loads of people doubled up on the list. If by some miracle I'm still on it from 1996 at an old address, I'll also be on it from when they added it to my purchase history when I was on the PTS, at my current address. Unless they run all the old ones through the system to check them against newer accounts and delete some, I reckon that'll cut the list number down by quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure that I'm on the list twice too.

If memory serves I first went on the waiting list in 1999.Around this time a few people that I knew or started to meet suggested that i wrote regular letters to the club virtually begging for a season ticket (and enclosing a blank cheque...just in case!) as this system seemed to work for some people.

Well,it never worked for me but I do remember getting at least one letter that said something like 'Thanks for your interest but there are no season tickets available at this time but we've placed your name on the waiting list'....even though I'd stated that i was already on it!

Whatever the outcome or the the motives behind it,it's something that's needed to be done for years and years....ABOUT BLOODY TIME!

I put 3 names on the list in 1997. The other 2 lads haven't been a game for about 8 years.

Reading what it says on the website I should get some form of letter through at the end of the month. Changed my details over when I moved 5 years ago, bet all the did was add me to the list having lost my initial position form '97.  ;D

Have been privileged in that time to have held a ST for a number of years. So no arguments from me about what happens in the future. Prices will keep many from actually getting one, unless they do as people do now and lend them out.

How many new season tickets are issued by the club a season? (ie fans who give up their tickets without passing them on to friend, family etc)

I'm guessing less than 10 a season

Doubt many will pay that £5 if they find out they are 25,000 on the list ;)

Sure Ian Ayre said in a recent interview that the turnover was about 150 tickets issued per year to new season ticket holders

I joined the waiting list sometime late 1996 early 1997 and was lucky enough to get the call before season 1998-99 when LFC decided to turn a block of the Upper Centenary into season tickets.  As far as I'm aware that's the last time that happened and everything since has just been one-for-one if anyone handed a season ticket back.  In short, if you think you've been on the list since before 1997 and have never been offered one I really don't think you're on the list they're currently looking at!  Rick Parry probably lost it down the back of his desk or something!

OK then RAWK sweepstake.  How big a mess is that list?  Out of the 25,000 they write too how many will register for the new list and pay the fiver?

I am going for 5000

Why would you pay a fiver (per year?) for something you'll never get?

If this is true, and they'll end up with 30.000 people on the list, then you'll get offered a ST in 200 years!

Still happy paying a fiver a year for it?

Ive got a feeling that the club will issue around 2500 new St this season. The only reason I think this is because off falling attendances for class b and c games. If the club issue new st's it's guaranteed money in the bank for them rather than hoping they games sell out. I'm currently a member and think I'd prefer to stay this way now as long as the club keep giving same credits out for away games and priority to cat a games to people on attendance for previous games.

I'd pay a once off fiver if there was chance in the future there would be more season tickets availible, upgrading Anfield, new stadium etc.

I suspect that people who joined the list between 1995 & 1997 were picked off pretty randomly. I joined the list in 1995 about 6 weeks after my nephew & his mate walked up to the TO & got 2 over the counter! I can't remember when we got ours (Alzheimers setting in) but I think that it was 99-00. Ours are in the Paddock. Mostly but not all STs around us.

Before 1996 I think it was just bits of paper in a cupboard!

Got a phone call in work from me dad saying I'd had a letter from the club telling me I had a season ticket for the following season...5 minutes later my mate phoned to say he had got me a European Cup Final ticket..it was May 1981...means fuck all to you lot, but gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside remembering it.

Not far wrong.

Before the automated system of logging season ticket applications, It was most definately a book system.

Book, 1,2,3,etc.

Page 1, 2, 3, etc.

If you applied, you were given your place in the queue as , example:   Book 6, page 2 etc.

My original reply from the TO from June 2001, is stated as:   BK7, P76

My response from several weeks ago(from my query of last March), Is that I'm now reference number 14788.

Which must mean that I'm in the top 15,000.

Good idea from the club and a step in the right direction. Hopefully this will get to the bottom of the ST list mess and give FSG a good idea of how many season tickets they may be able to sell in a new, bigger stadium.

5 quid, 5 fucking quid. I can't even get a taxi into town for that and there's still moaners. I think people forget NESV don't take dividends from the club, so EVERYTHING we make is put back into Liverpool. And you get people crying off over a fiver ffs. I think they should have doubled that at least. Nice little earner, and if you don't like it, go watch another team then.

I agree.

It also suggests that there is no chance whatsover of any new stadium/redevelopment decision being made this summer.

My brother applied around 2001 I think, so ten years ago. I was a kid and he's since gone on to different things so if he's offered it, I'll probably have it. Having said that I'd be suprised if his name is still on the list.

A shrewd point.

Fewer matchday sales also means that prices can be raised.

To be honest mate, I think that originally applied in something like 1996 or 98 ish, but I don't remember.

The above info from June 01, is I think, a responce to me querying where I was on the list, in the summer or 2001.

Maybe Im stupid but I don“t see a problem with there being 70k people on the list. Even if loads of people are on the list more than once, this will solve itself when someone at the top of the list says no thanks etc etc.... The real problem is that the list doesnt“t work / no one giving their ST back ?

No wonder you like throwing money away with a username like that.

I'm just sick and tired of paying little fees here and there, with no fucking value whatsoever coming back.
Membership, booking fees, premium phone lines, registration on ST list - it all adds up, and thats before the cost of a ticket.

If you actually read the statement they are only accepting registrations from the first 25,000 people on the list.  So they are actually protecting the remaining 50,000 who indeed may have no chance of getting a ticket from paying the fee.  The only people who are being asked to register are those that they think have a chance if we get a bigger ground.

Problem is though, I think out of the 70,000 there will be less than 10,000 remaining. Make a new stadium and just wipe out the list, is my thoughts.

I did get that, I still think it's a nice little way of getting some cash, with very little to return. If you read my other post above, with a rate of about 150 ST/year being handed over (through the club), 25.000 still means you'll have no chance of getting one within your lifetime.

I have my doubts that even with a new/expanded ground we'll see a massive increase in STs. Simply because the membership scheme makes the club more money. STH get a discount, members pay full price + membership + booking fees.

Have to admit I'm surprised how many people think nothing of paying a fiver for something they have very little chance of getting.

this is all 100% true; there'll be no appreciable increase in turnover of STs unless the carry on of tickets being passed on stops.

£5 is nothing if you end up being high on the list and likely to get one. But should you not bother paying £5 and have your details kept up to date, that £5 might cost you something you later regret.

That's your choice at the end of the day.

I did get that, I still think it's a nice little way of getting some cash, with very little to return. If you read my other post above, with a rate of about 150 ST/year being handed over (through the club), 25.000 still means you'll have no chance of getting one within your lifetime.

The amount of cash is fairly small. The season ticket list badly needs sorting, and this means that they will be able to do it in a self-funding manner. If one in five actually pay, the staff costs and the postage could easily exceed the amount raised.

They are planning to expand capacity via some means - and they were probably horrified by the state of the list. I doubt the club have any real insight into the potential demand for season tickets. I doub that any of the enormous amounts of stadium project spending by the former owners produced anything that useful.

If it was purely for money - there would be an immediate upfront demand that remaining on the season ticket waiting list would require all red membership.

bk4 p49 from about 1998.  Also AD/CH06060046 from 2006.  Moved house 3 times since the first one...Not holding my breath for a letter.

Write to the TO and update your details. If they have any sense they will delay the letters for a couple of weeks whilst all the likely recipient update their contact details.

Yep I wrote into the club 1996 and got a letter back, which I still have. My ref is BK2 P29 so I was on book 2 page 29. Anyone know how many pages each book had and how many people were on each page?

I reckon you'll just have to wait until April to find out, shouldn't be hard you've had to wait 15 years already haha.  I'd Imagine you should be one of the first offered anything if theres anything to offer.  I'm Book 6 myself.

Did I just use the phrase "if they have any sense" in reference to the Ticket Office? I apologise profusely for wasting you time reading the last post...

To pay the staff, the database design, the computers upkeep, the electricity used, the paper for letters, the ink to print them, the stamps to post them etc. What do you think?
