Magic , Oh

It was the song of the trip and exactly a year to the day that Momo was carried off at Benfica last season. He was immense last night and the best player on the park its just a shame his game was ended prematurely. Hopefully he'll be back for the Mancs and the 2nd leg.

for me it was the simultaneous look of frustration and amusement on Ronaldinho's face every time Momo nicked the ball from him just as he was about to do one of his tricks. It was as if Ronaldinho was thinking 'fuck's sake, not you again'. Absolute class, a few tweaks here and there and he could turn into the best midfielder in the world when he hits his prime. And he's OURS ;D

Think we seen once and for all why Rafa prefers Momo in the middle rather than Gerard, fantastic performance, totally overshadowed Xavi who had to be taken off mid way through the second half. Hopefully now these fans calling for Gerard to play in the middle will now finally accept that Liverpool's strongest central midfield partnership is Momo and Xabi with Gerard on the rite.

Must be frightening for other teams when Sissoko is out with an injury.
Doesn´t matter how long he´s out he always come back better or improved if you want. Like the eye injury. After that he´s vision seemed better. (or upgraded) If he will suffer a broken foot in the future I guess many goalkeepers will be afraid. Probably takes him 3 weeks to get back from that and with a newly upgraded right or left foot he will start to score goals from every angle at will. Don´t mess with the Boss he will always come back better and hunt you down wherever you are.
Sitting at Camp Nou yesterday and watching him eating up the Barca midfield like they where breakfast for him was a pleasure.

I love the fact that in this video, about 20 secs. in, Momo makes a great move and fires a rifle shot...about 15 feet wide.  A goalscorer he ain't.  But he's absolutely immense, and I agree with everyone else pointing out the obvious reason why Rafa always puts him in the middle.

They are some quality videos of just what he is capable of. If he adds goals to his game, we would be looking at our best player. Although, I'd be ecstatic if he can keep up his current form and development.

Hats off to Rafa for not letting him go to the bitters.

Unfortunately, had to watch the match on skys tv coverage and got really pissed off on the stevie won't be happy playing right side of midfield shite. After the game, it was all about how good Momo was. two faced pricks. stevie as done tremendous things for us but if were all honest the first name we look for on the team sheet is a fully fit Momo. to be honest, it's not the goals i'm bothered about.  if he can just rid himself of the frustrating reputation he has of 'not being the best passer in the team' he'll be perfect for us.

the 4 we have in the centre of our midfield probably make up the best options in european football.

this is true - it can't be denied.  Rafa's selections over the last two seasons have been based largely on the availability of Momo.

Momo is fucking Boss! He has with out a doubt been one of Rafael Benitez best signings and he is still very young and have the potential to become a new Viera, but there is still a long way for him to go.
I was really afraid that the injury he picked up against Barcelona would be serious, but it doesn't look like it and he will properly soon be back in training, but now we really have quality cover in midfield so we can cover over any serious injury which is nice to know.
Get well soon, lad!

That's unfair, he's a different style of player than Viera and could turn out better, people will be touting the new Momo

Momo is already a better tackler and has far better energy and closes down better than vieira. Vieira's technique was very good and he was a talented footballer, momo will get and has gotten better at this.

I certainly wouldn't swap the two now, Vieira in his prime maybe, but not now.

In the big games Momo is one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. Less so in the games we're expected to win (although his use of the ball is improving and this could lead to him becoming an absolutely indispensible member of the first team in future.)

I'll keel over in shock if he doesn't start today.

The great man retired today. Best of luck to him.

Sure he he lacked a little grace on the ball but he was an absolute machine defensively - covered the grass at a tremendous rate & tackled like a man possessed.

I'll always remember him for putting in arguably the crunchiest tackle ever seen in the Charity Shield. 2006 on Ballack. 25 secs in.

Was a human wrecking ball in the midfield and usually lots of fun to watch his antics, pity about the eye injury but still made a good career for himself.
