Never wasteful in possession, and shields the ball so excellently. His poise and composure is world class at the moment. Struggling to think what other player he could be compared to...It's quite unique, the mix of deft touch, poise, composure, offensive threat and defensive nous that he offers.

Klopp played him more than any other midfielder last season too. He’s first choice and so important to the way we play.

But hey, its one of those conversations that's been going round in circles for two and a half years.  So no one is going to change their stance on it, which is fair enough.

But there was a reason he's one of the players who Klopp has played week in week out since he signed him.

There's never been a period where he's been poor, but like every player he's had atrocious games here and there. The likes of Firmino and Salah have them too, but it's easier for them to get over it, with a goal or assist. I love Gini but in his first 18 months here it's undeniable that there was a lot of away games where it was easy to question why he deserved to play. Of course it all stems from the fact he'd played basically his entire career as an attacking midfielder, scoring over 50 goals for PSV, and impressing at Newcastle. His transformation into his current roll goes to show how impressive and versatile a midfielder he is, and of course justifies why Klopp is earning the big money here 

I was even surprised today with how dangerous was he in attack. He took the goal brilliantly but looked as hungry as I've ever seen him for another goal. He was long overdue one anyway. I think in terms of consistency this season he's easily rivalled Van Dijk or Salah.

Agree woth most of this. But he was good from the start. That coincided with us turning into an offensive force. His midfield play with Lallana and connection to Mane and Bobby was brilliant. A true number 8. That was with a newly deputised Hendo or Can as the 6. Now with Fabinho as the 6 and Naby instead of Lallana against Bournemouth, I had flashbacks of those earlier days of Klopps first full season.

Had a feeling that Fabinho and Keith in midfield with him might give him a bit more freedom to attack. I've been willing Klopp to play that trip in that formation all season and, while Bournemouth weren't the toughest opposition, they weren't dogshit either, and we were all over them in midfield.

After that rampage into the box where he squared it to Salah when he should have shot,he seemed to be intent on scoring. He knew he took the wrong option there I think. I can see him getting on the score sheet more this season with that midfield we played yesterday.
