First saw him in 1965 playing against Fulham at Anfield. My first match. He must have been a lad of about 26 then, same age as our latest signing. Good health to him.

In the 68/69 season I went to every game I could to see the great man score his record league goal and couldn't get to Chelsea where he did it (my avatar).

My brother who was at the game has taken the piss ever since. Then today  I found out that he DIDN'T break the record that day. In 2015 it was discovered that a goal credited to him against Spurs in 1966 was an own goal. I was at the home game against Wednesday two weeks later when he did get the record. Great joy !!

So Roger claimed an own goal against Spurs did he?

Hopefully he didn't swear on any of his children's lives.

An absolute gentleman that I had the privilege of meeting a few years ago at a corporate event.

When I was about six or seven, my Mum wrote to the club explaining how much of a fan of his I was and I received a signed picture which was obviously taken in his back garden. I told him when I met him and he seemed almost embarrassed - a true legend and a really nice guy.

Thanks Sir Roger!

Two years (and a day) since Liverpool Football Club’s all time record league goal scorer passed away.

RIP Sir Roger. I don’t think that record will EVER be surpassed. Mo Salah, for all his brilliance, is still over a hundred goals off Hunt’s league total! That boggles the mind.
