Interesting to see if he goes straight in come August. Just happy it's competition at least for Mignolet and hopefully we have a solid 1/2.

This German bloke, a football fan,  that I know didn't have a clue about either Matip or Karius....

Because Karius is only 22, I can understand why he may have gone under the radar of a few teams and observers.

Can't be much of a football fan if he didn't have a clue who Joel Matip was. And Karius is 22 years old, not 15.  He was voted one of the best Keepers in the Bundesliga last season. Helped Mainz qualify for Europe. Where has he been living? Under a rock?

Come on, when you say a 'German bloke, a football fan', you really mean you, don't you?

Just listening to interview on TAW with a guy who was a professional keeper in Germany who calls Karius one of the Top 3 keepers in BL and also says he`s so stable hardly makes any clear mistakes.

If Karius keeps up with all that in PL as well it would be incredibly exciting especially when you consider what a bargain his price is and how easy on the eye he is.

Really happy Klopp identified the keeper problem, was worried we'd be stuck with Mignolet for another year when he got the new contract. Very exciting signing, and he has a lot of positive press around him.

He probably may need a good goalkeeping coach which Achterberg doesn`t seem to be.

We should see an immense improvement in defending set pieces. Darius has a great aerial win percentage, and Matip is a 6'4 giant who excels at heading. Great piece of business thus far, quite pleased.

I had been led to believe this lad was a beefcake of Emre Can proportions, and I've just seen a picture of him and he looks worryingly like Adam Bogdan.  Hopefully he's a cut above Bogdan at actually keeping goal.

That and mainly the fact that such a highly rated young keeper was willing to come means he's been told he is a starter. Highly rated keepers never go anywhere unless they are guaranteed 1st choice, it's not like other positions.

Really happy with this signing, one of the top young keepers in the world for an absolute bargain price.

Less than £5m for Karius and Matip is an great start to summer recruitment.
