To be fair, Raul was much better than Garcia against Tunisia. I don't know how he did against the Saudis, mind. Looks like a very good team out for Spain ... come on!

Doesn't matter, I want to see Garcia anyway. ;) And he usually does well in the big games.

Ribery aside this looks like its going to be played solely down the middle with virtually no width, which quite possibly could result in another snoozer given France's penchant for emphasizing possession. After seeing their formation and line-up, get ready to watch Zidane's last match lads and lasses.

Domenech does it again, dropping Trezeguet in a match they need to score!

With another coach France could have been contenders, but Domenech is even worse than Svennis and France will pay the price.

I don't know about France being contenders. Yes, Domenech is a terrible and lethargic tactician, but this is a French team in transistion which is unwilling to recognize its current status. In a way this French team are a bit like the German squad a few years ago and it wouldn't surprise me if they struggle to qualify for Euro 2008 or South Africa 2010 as they have lost an entire generation of players and failed to bring in new blood other than Ribery in favour of creating temporary success.

This game has the potential to be a cracker. But I think Spain's youth will overpower France's ageing stars.

Come on Xabi!

Why no Trezeguet?

Henry doesn't like a partner apparently, especially one who makes the same runs and takes up the same space as he does.

France will nick this one.

Zidane will score the winner...

You're clearly NOT talking about Trezeguet here mate  :wave

You're right. When I watched them in their last group game, I thought they had something going. But now that they have decided to play the same old team again, with Makelele-Vieira behind Zidane and Henry on his own up front, I believe they will be as slow and predictable as they were in their first two games. Spain are better than that.

When I look at that French team, the only serious goal threat I see is Henry....

For Spain, I see Raul, Torres and Villa, plus a midfield of sublime vision and passing....

This will be a tight game, but surely Spain are too young, too hungry and too good for France?

Think France have been the better side so far, marginally.

i think so. spain look like they can open up the french - and if they fail they have good attacking options on the bench with the likes of garcia etc. alonso looks confortable, and spain, in the main part are controlling the pace of the game.
