FFIX was from £90 new

and £28 second hand. Got the rest of them second hand (VII, VIII, X-2 and XII) for a combinded total of £36, so I though I'd just leave it there.

Quick question aswell for anyone: Is there a FFXI, or is FFX-2 the same thing?

FF11 was the online MMORPG (I think) whereas X-2 was appalling (IMO)

And 9 was awsome, there's really not much in it between 9 and 7 as my faves

My favourites are 8, 10 and 7 in that order.

First one I played was 8, and loved it. So much, that I recently started it again as a distraction from Uni work...very bad idea. When I first saw 10, the graphics were awesome on the PS2. Story line was quality as well, despite what others may think!

Haha woops! Found that leaving the game on the ps3 menu screen doesn't actually pause the game timer. I'm 28 hours in now, but it's probably closer to 22-23.

Still chasing Sephiroth after he killed the President Shinra whilst I was rescuing Aeris from Shinra headquarters. I've picked up Red XIII, Yuffie and Cait Sith along the way, and been through fort condor, Kalm, Junon, the Gold Saucer, Corel Prison, Costa Del Sol, Gongaga and now I'm heading for Cosmo Canyon. Had a run in with Rufus but I've mostly been doing side quests and levelling characters/materia.

I'm getting into the rpg side of the game now that I'm older and a bit more patient so I'm spending more time fighting looking for/raising money to buy weapons and armour etc.

Final Fantasy is amazing, my favourites are VII and VIII probably more VIII.... not a lot of people liked that one but for some reason that's the one that I enjoyed the most, I think the story is great and moments from it always stick in my memory and I randomly remember them.... the score for it was also incredible, did not like "drawing" magic though but enjoyed the Junction system!

Downloaded FFVII on to my old PC couple of years ago was about 50 hours in then bought new PC. still have the save but cannae decide whether to just reinstall and start again. Ive just managed to regain some sort of social life but reading this thread has me longing to get my gold chocobo back.

Not that this will be of any help but I always play FF's in stages. For example I'll play one til about 20%...then not touch it for a few weeks, then play again obsessively for a few days and on and on. I don't do that with any other series except FF which is weird.

Anyway, I wouldn't fancy doing that 50 hours again personally.

Do a similar thing myself. Only with FF too, although have played Zelda: Ocarina of time a few times like that, will prob just pick up from where I was again although it is always tempting just to play it again for the sheer epicness (that a word?!?!?) of the story. this bloody thread lol....

I'd start over, about 14 months ago I sat through about 50 hours of FF9 and was nearing the end... then my studies and work got on top of me and I had to leave it. No way in hell I could just pick it up now from where I left off, got to immerse yourself in the story otherwise it feels disjointed.

But you are 1,000,000% correct though wouldnt feel the same without going through it all so its fresh in the memory, must remember to at vincent and yuffie earlier on though!

VII was the first real game I was totally immersed in and it started my love affair with the FF series. IX was awesome, X was quality too, never played XI but I ploughed £91 for an import copy of XIII from Renchi.

Got VII on my PS3 and I've left it at the magic pots stage on Disc 3. Immense.

Bought it again about a year ago. As people have said, graphics haven't aged well at all.

VII, VIII and IX are available on PSN, I and II are rumoured to be avalable for it soon too.

Great thread!!

My favorite game has to be VII the first one i played which made me a fan and has to be the greatest game of all time - it even has advent children to back it up! Chocobo racing, the Gold Saucer, Sephiroth and of course the fat chocobo summon!

Out of all the games:

Best character - Sephiroth
Best move - Omnislash
Best summon/aeon - Anima
Best airship - Ragnarok
Best Weapon - Lionheart

VII blew my mind, as I think it did for everyone who played it at that time. It was a huge leap for gaming in general and it's a classic but X I think I was able to appreciate abit more. Just can't bring myself to say it's better

FF VIII seems to have gotten alot of love in the other thread but after VII it was the only one I never played. Is it worth going back to?

Tried playing VII when it came out and hated it. Tried it again after everyone said it was the greatest game of all time and hated it. Tried one last time a couple of years ago and hated it. Never been a fan of JRPGs so it's no surprise really but I've never seen the appeal in FF

Really impressed with the mobile release of 9. Can't believe the amount of effort it must have taken to make it a touch screen game (and I don't mean like an emulator where the buttons are on screen, they've rebuilt the controls completely).

Works amazingly well on my Note 4.

So much better with HD faces as well.

It's dated the same way VII has. If you can still play VII then you should get a lot of joy from VIII.

I'm always game for some Final Fantasy nostalgia. Even though I've only played these ones...

VII - Only played it for a few hours, many years after it's release. Think...maybe...2008. Even as someone who appreciates old school gaming, it's hard to look past the graphics. One of those early attempts at 3D that's aged horribly. I can't wait for the remake though. I can definitely see why it was so revolutionary.

IX - Unlike VII, I played this nearer to when it was released. Incredible game. Loved everything about it, the characters, the setting, the dialogue and of course, the music. One of my favourite games ever. It was first introduction to the series and for me it really nails the "fantasy" element. Last of it's kind in a way.

X and X-2 - I like the world of X and X-2 more than any other. Something about it reels me in. And unlike some I actually like Tidus, and the Charlie's Angels sequel. Still think IX has the best music throughout, but To Zanarkand is the best piece of music from any game I've ever played.

XII - Loved this one since it's release. It's battle system is so good that it's the only one I'll likely go back and play again. I just can't be dealing with random battles anymore. Great settings, underrated soundtrack and a few memorable characters are unfortunately let down by a storyline which I understood less than the second season of True Detective.

7, 8, 9 then 10 (no I'm not just counting). I don't think any of the others quite hit the heights of 7. The story of Cloud, Sephiroth and Aeris was something else. It's no wonder there has been so much spin-off material based on 7, Square always knew this is where the story-telling peaked for them. Not that I'm just basing this on the story mind
