Oh. It was a while ago but had my first disappointing visit to Mowgli.

The food wasn't bad (I still love the chat bombs and Himalayan cheese on toast). But their portion sizes have gotten noticeably smaller. I know shrinkflation happens. Sign of a the times. But it's because I know how good their food has been in the past I was disappointed. Since it's not a cheap place to eat at as well.

It's a shame because I do really like the food

I see Il Forno may have shit in their own nest by catering for the Tories in Manc this week. I liked it when it first opened and I lived around the corner but not been in many years, far better Italians in town for me anyway.

I'm unsure on the whole story, but I don't begrudge any hospitality business accepting any jobs they can get, especially one which was no doubt decently paid, after the 20 months they've had to endure.

Went to Vicenzos on Woolton Road for only the 2nd time tonight (1st was back in 2018) and thought it was absolutely superb. We got the mixed seafood starter (prawns, calamari and seabass with garlic mayo dip). I had the pollo milanese with truffle fries and my girlfriend had the fillet beef with mushrooms and truffle sauce. We both had tirimisu and espresso martinis. Bottle of red as well. Everything was faultless and brilliant efficient service. It's on the pricey side at 65 quid a head but for quality food it's worth it.

Been there a few times and it’s always been outstanding. The Lobster ravioli is off the charts good.

I feel like the clamour I've seen and people basically slagging them off (and their food which the times I've been has been great) more than a little virtue signalling.

To be honest if I owned a business and I was struggling I'd take advantage.
Fucking hell, do we all agree with everyone we work with or for?

Top Scouse points to be had for trying to cancel a restaurant. Tory behaviour if I may say so.

I was at a show at the Phil last night and I walked up Bold St from central. Christ there’s so many new places on Bold st these days. Persian, steak houses, Turkish, Greek, burgers. I really need to start going into town to eat more.

Has anyone tried Frost Burgers? Believe it’s a new vegan diner type place on Wood Street. Was planning on giving it go next month when I’m up for work.

Also been recommended Sanskruti which i can see has a decent review up the page

Sanskruti is boss, best Indian in town and that's coming from someone who loves lamb or chicken in their curry.

My particular fav is the Paneer Lababdar. Think a much tastier tikka masala, it's along those lines.

The Kaju Masala is really nice too.

The Kaju Masala is lovely, the Malai Kofta is tasty too.

I often have the Lasaniya Bateta but that's got a small kick to it, so avoid if you're not a fan of spicy curries.

Had delivery from Frost burger loads, fries are amazing, the 'chicken' burgers are great which I go for mostly, loads love the no meat burgers but not a big fan myself, they are nice but don't have the same taste as Beyond or Naked Glory burgers for example.

Great shout, my Girlfriend is a fan. We've Sanskruti again on November 2nd, can't wait. Took in a few meals in London over the weekend that ranged from decent to massively underwhelming.

Anyone tried Lu Ban? Work have booked us in there next week.

There is nobody that will be able to convince me there is a better place to eat out in town than FSK. It is my favourite place to eat out in town bar none.

Best wings in town. Best burger in town by a mile. Best atmosphere. Best beer garden.

FSK is good, I always enjoy it. There's some specialist places including Sanskruti, Etsu and Six by Nico that I'd plump for ahead, some others too I'm likely forgetting but it never disappoints.

Puffin Rooms is amazing, but not sure what it's like late afternoon. Abditory is decent too off Castle St, as is Liverpool Gin Distillery (not just for gin). There's also Ex-directory and Berry & Rye which are "secret" bars.

Thanks for all the posts; excellent read.. Bringing the family over soon. Bit of a small special occassion; and looking for a place. I normally do italian club, il forno, monro, san carlo, fsk, mowgli  - and enjoying all of them. Looking for a new place; with good food/service; can spend a bit but not too pretentious/small portions and too delicate; probably won't appreciate that (our fault). cheers

Cucina Di Vincenzo's is really nice and a good atmosphere (best Arancini I've ever had), not exactly central though, it's more the other side of Queen's Drive, on the way out to Gateacre, taxi would be 15 - 20 minutes from town though.

In town itself, it's becoming a joke how much it's mentioned in here but Sanskruti is a great Indian (only vegetarian and vegan if that puts you off for any reason) and Etsu is great if you like Japanese food, huge portions too. Neither are pretentious or intimidating in any way whatsoever, both pretty laid back dining atmosphere. Greek Taverna is always good bang for your buck, it sounds to me like you want to be avoiding places like The Art School and Roski, which undoubtedly do excellent food but there can be an air of pretension to them, they're more 'fine dining' establishments. Six by Nico might not fit the bill given it's a taster menu but we came out full and not unhappy with the portions. More expensive than the others mentioned though.

Berringtons last night. Excellent.

Pork cheeks and Morcilla / Cheese Croquettes.

Ribeye / Sea Bass.

Cheese board / Some chocolate ball thingy.

All very, very good. The starters were my highlight even though the steak was as good as Ive had in a long time. Highly recommended.

Went to Vietnom last night, really good. Like Livbes, the highlight was the starters (mains were delicious as well). First time having a bao bun and was super tasty. Only other Vietnamese restaurant we've been to in Liverpool is Pho on Bold street and would recommend Vietnom over it. Six of us went and we all had something different and everyone was super happy for both the meat and the veggie options.

Not strictly Liverpool, but went to Southport Market in the week. Very nice indeed. Much better choice than the Baltic
