The great thing about Alisson and my biggest compliment is that he handles what he is supposed to handle.
Made standard saves tonight but made them all and that's what you want from your goalkeeper in a situation like this. Struggling to think of many mistakes he has made re saves.
There were 3 standard saves, yes but on the first Messi's shot, if it was De Gea/Oblak/insert any keeper here, he wouldn't have kept his ground like Alisson did and would've flown at the ball. Cameras would've captured that and commentators would've waxed lyrical.
Of course, in hindsight that is a standard save, because Alisson makes it look so easy. The 2nd one from Coutinho as an actual standard save, but one that De Gea has been fluffing in recent weeks. And the 3rd one on the near post, how many times have our goalkeepers in the past have let the ball in through the near post. Alisson isn't bothered even if it is Messi.
The 4th one from Suarez was not standard, even for Alisson's level, it was exceptional. He was quickly off the line and he had to put enough body on the save so that it didn't go through or under him. It reminded me of the save against Hazard at Stamford Bridge at a crucial time, 2-0 down there and we would've have taken a point.
And that save against Napoli is probably what has kept us in this tournament anyway beyond group stages.
