I think Eilish would have kicked herself if she hadn't won last night. Calendar gave her a great opportunity as best of the Commonwealth Africans were on for the Worlds a few weeks back. Still lovely to see her win the title and whilst the Commonwealths may come down the pecking order they do produce some great events and memories. Some events are world class whilst others are not so much. Can make same argument about Euros. As someone who used to club run with her mum it does make you feel quite old though.

Always used to think (might still be the case) that most of the sprint and long distance events are pretty world class but the the Field events are a lot weaker, and it’s the Euros where they are toughest.

Always a bit weird how Steve Backley won something like 3 or 4 European Golds up against Zelezny but never Olympics or World titles.

Jamaica beat the Aussies in the netball :o

That means an England v Australia semi final is now likely though...

England started well in their last T20 group game. Winner will face India - the easier of the other 2 to go through.

The one thing they have been *awful* at is reviews today - had 2 as plum as you like earlier they refused to review, then had one that was pitching outside off (and almost certainly missing the wickets) - and reviewed *that one* - truly terrible

And a SECOND ONE that is pitching outside leg that they reviewed.  WTF are they doing - do they just not understand where leg - because on BOTH of them it was obvious from the first glance it was outside off.  Luckily, next ball a nice run out, and they are 8 down, but so truly bad decisions today from the England camp w.r.t. what they have and  haven't reviewed

Excellent performance from England in the netball against world champions New Zealand.

Australia up next in the semi finals.

England's Ekimova has a massive 0.7 lead on in the more fun (Rhythmic) Gymnastics, onto the final apparatus, the ribbon

And smashes out a 27.1, 1.1 higher than her qualifying score.  Means Sokolova needs a 27.8 to tie - her qualifying score on this was 28.1 - but she has been atr least 0.5 down on every single piece of apparatus today compared to her qualifying (to be honest most of them seem to be slightly down on a few pieces - looks like judges are being a little more strict)

And a 27.6 (with that "0.5 lower than qualifying" that I mentioned) means Ekimova gets the gold by 0.2.  Go Marfa!

Yerse! Hockey penalties are great with them having a 1 on 1 from 25 yards out.

They should do that in football. They used to do it in the US league in the 70s:

So has the other semi final between India and Austalia. Winner plays England in the final.

Piece of piss for the Aussies, Indian keeper was poor.

What sport now? I saw the men’s hockey lost 3-2 to the Aussies in the semi final having been 2-0 up. Australia have won Gold every Games apparently.

2nd, 3rd and 4th for England in the women’s 400m. Bodes well for the relay but that final is tonight. Bit weird scheduling?!
