he has hasn't he.

He did do most of the spadework at Chelsea before Mr Ego rocked up - he really should have won the CL in 2004. Leicesters title win was just one of those seasons where Vardy was on fire and everyone else who should challenge was shite.

Let's not downplay it, though. A manager still has to train, organise, motivate, manage and inspire a team over the course of 38 games to win the league. Pochettino didn't do it, with a better team. Arsenal didn't do it, with a better team. We didn't do it, with a better team. Ranieri had all the right components needed to put a winning team on the field (keeper, defensive pairing, dominant centre mid, goalscoring playmaker and 1:2 striker). But so did Moyes at United, and we saw what happened there, as well as Scolari with Chelsea. Ranieri made all the right moves, and did what good managers are supposed to do, and nobody else did. To take a nearly-relegated team to the title in one season, a lot of things have to fall your way. But the manager has to get a lot of things right as well, and Ranieri did that, while others with better resources, didn't.

i'd say it's right up there with the best managerial achievements of the modern era.

Fulham Football Club Chairman Shahid Khan today named Scott "Scotty" Parker as Caretaker Manager, replacing Claudio Ranieri.

This is as bizarre as the time when he won player of the year.

They fell iinto that classic trap of bringing in loads of players with not enough  time to integrate them. Khan probably wanted to ensure they weren't going straight down by giving them plenty of cash. But I think the importance of the team is overlooked in "winning" the transfer window. Sessegnon hasn't developed as expected and I reckon Seri will be loaned/sold at a significant loss

This is what they're putting in their match day program ahead of our visit there

“He was given a frosty reception on his subsequent appointment at Liverpool, with fans being unmoved by his success with smaller provincial clubs like Inter Milan,” read the article.

“Realising that Roy was not going to win the league immediately and angered by his failure to buy the world's best players, who would obviously jump at the chance to sign for the team that had dominated Europe a mere three decades earlier, fans quickly lost patience.

Demonstrating the cool-headed pragmatism that has endeared them to the footballing public, the Liverpool faithful demanded Roy's replacement be an exciting young manager befitting the club's stature.”

“Setting the time circuits to 1991, the club's executives piled into the waiting DeLorean and floored it to '88, returning with a fresh-faced and energetic Kenny Dalglish, ready to usher in a new era of dominance spearheaded by future club legend Andy Carroll, a shrewd purchase at just £35m.

“Unfortunately, however, Alex Ferguson and Wayne Rooney recovered the time machine, went back to 1991, stole the Sports Almanac and brutally laid out Jan Molby at the 'Enchantment Under the Sea' dance.

“This left the club with no option but to drag present day Kenny out of the pub and into the dugout, skewing the timeline and culminating in an underwhelming eight-place finish and Kenny's departure (again).”

I hope they get relegated five times over and we smash them to bits, small-time w@nkers

It’s clearly fan written rather than an official view of the club.

That said it’s clearly all bollocks but it’s Fulham, it’s just a bit too much effort to get worked up about. We all know how shit Hodgson was here and we hardly were baying for a change because he wasn’t winning us the League, wed have taken mid table mediocrity at the point he was sacked!

I remember Fulham trying to get the game postponed the last time won there because of a tube strike, nothing to do with the 5-1 beating we'd given the league leaders Arsenal 4 days beforehand.

What's the fucking matter with some of these clubs?
We do the slightest thing that is construed as disrespectful to another club/person and we never hear the end of it, it becomes a huge story. Whereas it seems clubs can do and say what they like and we're expected to just get on with it.

It's clearly a fan written contribution, but they've published it so it's their responsibility so at least make sure it's accurate. Maybe saying that he joined a club that had been in 2 European Cup Finals in the previous 5 years would risk showing him up for the inept dickhead that he was, so they airbrushed that and went for the 30 years ago line.
As others have said we regret him leaving Fulham too.

;D Yep. I didn't know anyone who had any real expectations, things obviously weren't great off the pitch and most knew he was a gutless shithouse who played shit football and couldn't win away games so chances of us even getting a CL place were remote, we just hoped to be ok and get taken over by new owners. Luckily we ended up with new owners but as it was he left Maxi, Kuyt, Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Carragher, Agger etc 4 points above the relegation zone but obviously our expectations were too high. Personally, I think the mood was so rotten and his tactics so inept we'd have gone down if he'd stayed but thankfully we'll never know!

I think this guy summed up how we all felt. And for the Fulham fans reading, this was when we were being outclassed at home to 20th place Wolves.
