Ljinders has confirmed that Gordon is back in training but not in contention for tomorrow.  It's a shame and also increases the likelihood of Mane starting.

Surely there's another can play rather than risking Mane against Preston.

One small error in the OP,
The recently deceased owner of PNE was Trevor Hemmings not Eddie Hemmings. (Thanks Duvva !) and
thanks for the thumbs up Hazell, Duvva, Medellin, Yorky, Ghost town, Kavah.

Eddie Hemmings is a legendary English cricketer from the 80s - didn’t get picked until his mid 30s, but played for around ten years.
Currently living overseas.

No he’s not. He’s a retired sports commentator from Aigburth who covered Liverpool’s late 1970s glory days for Radio Merseyside.

In subsequent years he did RL coverage for Sky.

Shame Kelleher and Gordon seem to be out. Wonder if a Balagizi or Musialowski are in line for a start. Certainly a big occasion for a few young lads.

Not sure about this. Eddie Hemmings seems a pretty unique name.

I think it may have been the same fella. Sports reporter in the 70's on Radio Merseyside, turned his arm to cricket in the 80's and then took up commentating on Rugby League after a successful cricket career. Who can ever forget his 4 off the last ball from John Lever to win the 1989 B&H cup for Nottinghamshire. Or who can forget his legendary commentary for over 20 years of Super League.

What a fella. Crammed so much into 1 lifetime. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take on another sport in the 2020's.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Yes I know. But who on a Liverpool football forum sees the name Eddie Hemmings and thinks “woollyback cricketer” and not “scouse commentator”?

I love a cup game, me. Any cup game involving the Reds. Value every shiny thing that exists I tell ya.

I'll be looking forward to it all day, particularly when the team is announced.

I would really like to see a CB partnership of Gomez and Konate tomorrow night, they are the future so need to have some time together to develop their partnership, it has a great potential considering each player's qualities.

I find the league cup very relaxing  ;D  So I love these games too and it’s always great to see some younger players that I usually wouldn’t see play so much, as well as the chance to see the likes of Taki and Tsimikas as well, who have looked good in the games they have played in.

Only those times we get as far as a semi final does it stops being quite so relaxing!

My predicted lineup:

----------------Adrian------------------
Neco---Gomez---Nat--Tsimikas
----------------Morton----------------
---------Jones---------Ox-------------
---------Taki--‐‐Origi-----Mane-----

Should win by a few goals.

that's my approach as well.

I don't care a ton how these games work out (until later rounds of course) so they tend to be a lot easier on my BP.  and I don't get to watch the young lads games so it's great to see how they play.

Haven't looked forward to seeing Morton this much since the 1983-84 Scottish Premier League title run in.

I was curious who would play at first but it seems that the team pretty much picks itself due to injuries give or take 1/2 positions.

Do you anticipate him running around in circles, or do you think Mane will have him wrapped around his finger?

Adrian

Tsimikas
Konate
Gomez
Williams

Morton
AOC
Jones

Minamino
Origi
Mane

I think Mane and Jones are the most questionable to start out of that line up. We could also go Phillips at CB, Gomez at RB and push Williams into the RHS No.8 position.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Yeah, the opening rounds only allowed 3 subs, but after 14 of the remaining 16 teams pushed for the 5 subs rule the EFL made a u-turn for the remaining rounds.  Only Burnley and Leeds objected to it.  If the semi's and final goes to extra time then a 6th sub will be allowed.

Would be annoying to see those two miss out at a chance to play against this level of opposition.  Don't know much about Blair, but good luck to him if he does play.
