just seen the catch from root to get gayle, quality.

It was, but I reckon Bayliss will still be unhappy about the dropped catch earlier, especially when Woakes missed one also.

We can't afford to drop any catches in the slips against the Aussies.

Haha maybe. Would be a big ask to keep and open though wouldn't it? Or was it not an entirely serious shout anyway?

Semi serious? Sort of. Perhaps the Ashes is no time to experiment.

But (as you know) my faith in Bairstow as a cricketer is almost bottomless.

Could play him as a specialist opener and with the plethora of all rounders we have stil play someone else as keeper without really weakening the batting. Almost certainly won't happen as you say given it hasn't been tried before now.

Opens the way for Finn? Especially after he routed the Red Rose.

Not sure that's a true sign of form or quality! But yeah, he must be in with a shout. You'd think he should be perfect for Aussie pitches but when we won there he only played in the first test (and took a 5fer I think). Last time he went home early, didn't the coaches say he was unplayable (and not in a good way!).

Don’t agree with that review.

Evidence wasn’t conclusive that Samuels had hit that

Were Hales and Stokes bashing each other, or other randomers?

Be a bit ironic if a criminal record would prevent him travelling to Australia for the Ashes, of all things.

Sounds like Stokes caused damage against a random bloke during a night out. And Hales was with him, so has gone back to Bristol to probably provide a witness account police.
