Perhaps in Barca's system Rooney would be slightly better than Villa (not that i think so, but i can entertain the thought) - at Valencia as an out and out centreforward Villa shits on Rooney from a great height.

The fact Pep has taken Villa out of his comfort zone and he is still performing at the very top level is a testament to Villa as a player.

I'm not even sure Pep would take that swop to be honest - in this Barca side you don't need strikers charging back 200 meters to cover a fullback, because the pressure is so precise and constant they are never caught out.

which was pretty much my point, when Villa is thrown out there he is still one of the best players on the pitch.

just compare the two players goalscoring records and its blatantly obvious to whom is the better striker.

I'll give Rooney his dues, he is a very good player. As strikers go, he certainly has a lot in his locker. Is he the best in the Premier League? A good case could be made to say that he is. He is certainly one of the most prominent candidates. There is no denying that. But placing him above Villa is going to far. For starters, Villa has a better goal/game ratio than Rooney does, both at club level and at International level. Villa has nearly always stood out as Spain's number 1 attacking threat. He stood out at the Euro's (apart from the final) and he stood out at the World Cup. To the best of my recollection he scored against Honduras, Chile, whilst also scoring the winners against Portugal and Paraguay. I could bolster this point even further, but I'm not even going to bother. If you think Rooney is better than Villa (who has delivered on the biggest stage of them all numerous times) then you're mental
