It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Always looked forward to their coverage of The World Stare-Out Championships...

They ruined the whole thing when Solowka and Uzliam tried to form a breakaway Stare-Out Super League

Thanks for reminding me, had forgotten how ridiculously funny it was

Just read Mark Heap is 63! I thought 50 odd like Simon Pegg and co.

I love that they got Barry Davies and that he did it pitch-perfectly. What a commentator.
If I were a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides.

One of those comedy shows I could watch through and probably remember everything - lots of high quality talent involved. But this one was always the sketch I remembered most:

Kevin Eldon was always such a joy when he popped up in pretty much everything of the era.

Might be my favourite UK sketch show. Mark Heap is fantastic, and Simon Pegg's comic acting chops really came through. He's wasted on those Mission Impossible films.

So puerile but...

Shame Graham Linehan is a massive part of it given his activities as of late, but yeah, amazing show.

Hall and Oates helping in the community always made me laugh.

"Do you want Peter, or do you want Fanny?"

Other Eldon highlights of the era - not including shows where he was a featured player (Hyperdrive, World of Pub, Nighty Night) or shows where he had multiple minor characters (Brass Eye, TMWRNJ):

"Who am I? I'm the cleaner" - Black Books

"Take a seat, Miss Steiner" - Spaced

"Usually it's just oh, there's a man with long hair who's irritating me, I'll call up Scissors Bentley to have him taken down a peg or two" - Green Wing

"Machadaynu" - Look Around You

Quite the cult cameo career, and that's not even mentioning the legendary Simon Quinlank:

"Drink your weak lemon drink... now" - Fist of Fun & to be fair This Morning With Richard Not Judy, a show of the like we've never see since or will again and possibly deserves its own thread. Who puts on a show like that on a Sunday morning?!
