...Whilst I am not going to go all fanboy over him like Gerry Atrick, We rate the likes of Curtis Jones and Brewster and quite frankly none of them look as good as Foden.

Anthony " I'm not a Man Utd supporter"  Taylor is the ref for our match with City next week.

The same Ref who just did the City v Arsenal match.

I thought a ref didn't get the same side so close to doing one of their matches...

The same Manchester born and bred ref ref who didn’t send off Kompany last season.

Ooh... Controversial.

hardly.

There is a reason he is so highly touted.

Shame he didn’t do what Sancho did really, and went somewhere to really play significant minutes and get plenty of starts for 2 seasons, then come back. But I get that he was happy to do it this way as unlike Sancho, he does have strong links to the club.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. He may be a paragon of impartiality but if he makes a controversial decision he’s always going to be open to more scrutiny.

It’s not like he’s way better than the other refs. What’s the point of appointing him for this game other than they know it’ll wind us up and he’s local?

I know this thread is a bit of a lark so forgive for what I am about to say. I have the feeling this fanless premier league really fits their groove. (Not just because the Emptihead and no empty heads etc etc). They play a technical passing game that pretty much runs rings around most teams. They have a squad of 2 first teams so they can rotate pretty much 100% every game if they wish with no real drop off in quality. So 2 games a week, no stress from the terraces, other team's squads coming in with injuries and rotation issues giving up the ghost before a ball is kicked. No-one bar Utd and ourselves with any kind of emotional reason to get up for them, no-one cares enough. It's made for them. I really hope the terrace agitation gets back up and running for next season because I do think they will literally stroll to victory after victory without it.

I think you’ve made an excellent point here. And with owners being given the go-ahead by UEFA  to spend extra money due to coronavirus, they are likely to be the least affected by the crisis. Genius.

I thought a ref didn't get the same side so close to doing one of their matches...

They just can't ref the game immediately following the last. Atkinson is doing LFC v CPFC and Atwell is doing CFC v MCFC so those are the only 2 ruled out.
I had hoped it wouldn't be Taylor given he only reffed their game with Arsenal last week. FFS.

  • Thanks for everything Rafa. Nunca Caminarás Solo.
Are they trying to pick refs that don't have to travel around the country too much? Can't see why he'd get three in a row involving Manc teams otherwise.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

Yep, hopefully we wrap it up this week then as he simply won't allow us to win it on Manchester soil, not a fucking chance. He shouldn't be anywhere near any of our games after what he did to us last season and yet he gets this again. Doing Man Utd v Sheffeld United as well. Done City v Arsenal. Is he not allowed to leave home?

I pulled the stats the other day Taylor has taken charge of a City game 17 times and United 26 in the Premier League. He's been a premier league ref for 10 years.

Mike Dean who has been a premier league ref for 20 years has taken charge of a Liverpool game 4 times, Everton 4 times.

It's bananas
Reading through their Liverpool thread is genuinely amazing. They literally should do radicalization research on that place, they must have started somewhere and just went on and on and on and on. You'd think they can't go further, but they will.

Someone pointed me in the direction of the "They'll claim Vera Lynn as a kopite next" and then someone posted a video from VE day where a load of wools were singing "We'll meet again" and people at the front were in Liverpool gear.

They are absolutely mental for us. Quite flattering

It certainly is.  :)

Knowing so many bitter people will have their heads in their hands and fuming like Chernobyl will just be the icing on the cake for me.  :D

I live in Northamptonshire these days, and as such am surrounded by fans of many teams, United, all the London clubs, take your pick.  When it became inevitable, back around boxing day, I've had them all saying 'go on, rub it in', stuff like that.

Simply saying nothing and waiting has been a lovely thing.

I'm going to shell out on a (relatively) expensive bottle of champagne and smoke a small cigar my friend gave me several years ago that is currently plastic wrapped in a metal container.  I don't smoke as a rule (nothing legal anyway) but this seems as good a time as any.

That whole trying to mock us for being optimistic at the start of a new season always seemed so fucking stupid anyway, must be so depressing following other sides if you don't even allow yourself that moment to dream before any actual results potentially mess it up for you.

when we look back at last year, how this squad of players sang songs about us, and about fans being injured, so little was made of it, the "media in general" ignored it, you have to think maybe karma did come back to bite them. I don't know any of our team personally but I doubt you will see any videos like that when we are confirmed champions.

Crucial difference would be the fanbases of the two clubs, our players could easily be filmed singing the same songs as the fans, but there's plenty of songs to choose from and their focus is on our own side rather than rivals.

exactly, the last thing Liverpool fans would sing about would be anything related to city, we just don't care enough about them, small club 😁

The mental gymnastics from our Stockport cousins

"I'd say they have been the more effective and consistent side rather than better, but there has definitely been dark forces behind the scenes making sure that has been the case. "

Not only are they sore winners, they are sore losers too. Maybe it's because they are subconsciously know it's built on blood money and an appalling human rights record
