Fucking hell Paul mate, when I think of you I shouldn't be moaning about being cold. We'll probably get some sun sometime next week, the warmth on my face and 3 points every week amidst the beckoning colours of deep Red Autumn makes today's chilliness sweetly tolerable. Thanks for being there buddy for us.

May, June, July.  That was it.  That was summer.  FFS.

Never seen an August like this.  Might be a few degrees warmer but the weather past two weeks has been as autumn as it gets.  Bloody miserable.
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.

Getting like late autumn, at that. Going to Italy in a few weeks and was sorting out my shorts, polo shirts etc. whilst it was pissing down outside and the house was chilly.

Mind you, typical bank holiday.

Shall I change the thread title to the first twinges of Winter? Fucking hell the Summer hols are not even over and we've skipped Autumn and gone straight to fucking Winter this weekend.

Felt like putting the heating on yesterday, wtf?

I know mate it grieves me to have done it but when you're cold, you're cold regardless of how many layers you're wearing.

True. That's the problem when it's raining, lowers the temperature and stops you getting outside.

You could always fill a flask with tea, drive to the coast, listen to Radio Two with a plaid blanket over your knees.

We came close, missus went and had a hot shower instead to warm her up. The temp gauge said it was 21c in the living room, just didn't feel like it. Its 20.5 now and I'm in shorts and a hoodie (I wear shorts in winter).

That's only in the house, outside it was 12c - it was actually warmer last night than in the day - 13c today., drab wet and grey.

Was under my full 14 tog duvet last night, plus a furry blanket.  Was a tad too warm but it was bearable - which says a lot for the temperature past few days.

My place is an ice cube in winter and I'm on a PAYG meter so I wont be turning the heating on until I absolutely have to.  November probably.

Yep. Got me Nepalese socks on right now with no heating on but in the morning getting me coffee together I blast the heating on for a bit ( kitchen only ) but then turn it off. Living in an old house on the park can have a chill in them at the best of times. Mmmm . This will be my first year since 2010 either not being in the South of France for most of the Summer or heading to France usually round about now for the Vendange. So there goes my extended Summer as it can go on out there til mid / late October . It's the first time I'll see her turn from Summer to Autumn in this country for a bit.

It feels weird.

They allowed shorts in our office in June and until they say otherwise I will keep wearing them. It's only a short 10 minute walk to my kids school, so it has got to be at least minus 4 before I'll wear jeans when walking them there.

Lovely lovely rain.

I actually like the rain now and then.

Cant remember whose words these were ...

Some people get wet and some people feel the rain.

See my previous post for why it feels a bit weird.

I'm still wearing shorts in October!  ;D

Iam still wearing me sandals and do love wet feet in sandals when outdoors. In the pub on Sunday a few mates complained of wet trainees . Better to have wet feet and sandals on as you can take off your sandals dry your feet with a napkin or something.

Noticed the chill in the air last night and can now see the leaves starting to turn brown. Dug up the potatoes I'd grown this week and my beetroot will be ready in a few weeks. Dark nights are really closing in now. Hopefully we get an Indian summer for September and into October, before we get another cold long winter.

Know what you mean Rob
Was sunny yesterday about 5, so thought about sitting outside for a bit after work.
Went out and while it wasn't cold, it wasn't warm either so couldn't be arsed getting the cushions out.

We were chatting the other day about how basically August is pretty shit every year. Even after one of the best summers for ages, August has been the usual mix of downpours and no real warmth. It's consistently like that. Just hope we do get a couple of weeks of September heat.

Only the meteorological one. The astrological one, based on the earths tilt and its position in relation to the sun doesn't start til the 21st or 22nd of Sept - thats the one I go with :)

Conkers, BANNED.  Really.

If it were down to me it would be mobile phones that would be banned.  They do far more damage than getting a few conkers bounced off your head.    :P
