Also, first twinges of Autumn? I'll tell you the first twinges of Autumn.

[emoji23][emoji23] not far off I'm in South Yorkshire and I was going more off the colours than the temperatures.

As for mossy bites can't say I've noticed them at football games, they always got me at dawn after wading through undergrowth, putting up mist nets when I was bird ringing.

I know there must be some twinges of autumn when my wife asks for the heating to go on. She asked last night. Outrageous. Heating should go on in October at the earliest. That said, she does like the temperature to be something akin to a tropical rainforest

Love my early morning autumn walks to see fabulous scenes like these.

Sunrise over water creating the mist bank then vegetation festooned in cobwebs.  Beautiful.

I have a 4.5 in the summer and still sweat like a pig  ;D

First time I've thought about changing to the 10.5, woke up a bit cold couple times on Wednesday night. I do love Autumn though, especially the cold, crisp nights.

I've noticed the hedgerows gradually changing into their autumn colour scheme this week.

Rowan and hawthorn berries are bright red whilst the elderberries and sloes are showing blue black.

The silver birch are already speckled with golden coins with the yellows of sycamore and ash seed clusters standing out against the still dark green leaves.

Grasses, thistles and other verge side wild flowers are already brown and seeding.

Migrant birds are gathering ready for flights back to Africa, whilst the natives almost disappear to go through that traumatic time of moulting and the days have noticeably shortened despite the nice weather.

Hearing the constant dropping of nut shells in the woods as the squirrels feast and pack their larders.

I love this time of year through to November.  Nature settling down for a nice long rest after the frenetics of spring and summer.

I feel exactly the same. It felt like it was getting darker around 9pm at the end of July. But around 9.30pm in June the sun would still be out on my daily walk.

It has been a terrible, miserable, cold and wet ‘summer’ in Ireland so far, so it’s more a case of spotting twinges of summer in perpetual autumn than other way around. Last time we had three consecutive days of nice weather was in early May.
