Comedian Sean Hughes has died, aged 51

Very sad news.
Actor and comedian Sean Hughes, who was born in England but spent most of his formative years in Ireland, has died at the age of 51.

Hughes’ management company confirmed the sad news on Monday. He is believed to have spent time in hospital recently and his last tweet, posted on October 8, simply read: "In hospital."

RIP Sean. I know it's a cliché but it's the friends and family left behind that do the hurting, my thoughts are with them.

Wasn't expecting that.  Very sad.

Saw him about 3yrs ago at the Edinburgh Festival in a very small venue which was great.  He was hilarious.

Got there late, so had to sit in front row which I always hate in case you get heckled by the comedian.

Fair play, he didn't, but at one stage mid joke he just looked at me blank expression for what seemed like an eternity (only about 5 secs!) and then smiled and looked away.......phew.....I was off the hook.......fucker was only winding me up  ;D

I met him in Robinson`s in Belfast a few years ago, despite my friends and I bugging him he was genuinely nice to us.

Sad news this.

Always liked Sean Hughes when I saw him in the box, he had that relaxed demeanour about him.  Seemed like the sort of guy you could sit with in the pub and have a good laugh with I reckon.

I was watching a lot of NMTBuzzcocks videos on YouTube last night with him and Lamarr - what a brilliant charming and funny man. Gutted to hear about his passing. RIP.

Saw him at the Hay Festival a few years ago. He was very funny and seemed like a nice bloke. Always enjoyed him on Buzzcocks too.

Far too young. RIP.
