It's really tough to tell with City's attacking midfielders. The only one I'm confident about is De Bruyne.

Same with their full backs, you never know if they will play to the 60 minute mark.

Some good insight - definitely agree with being stubborn!

Not sure I'd have Phil with his recent injury and all recent speculation - Salah more guaranteed of minutes.

Wouldn't have Walcott anywhere near my side either - not guaranteed starts in their new system. For that money I'd want a guaranteed starter like Zaha for £0.5m less.

Also, I think it would be crazy for anyone to not have Tom Carroll as their £4.5m MID. Got 3 assists in the last friendly, gets 90 mins every game, and seems to be on all corners and set pieces with Siggy leaving.

Jesus is Pep's lovechild.

Think they will both score around the same so save the £1.0m and go for Jesus.

That's true. Though I'm sure I saw Aguero and Jesus up front together last season. Regardless, Guardiola does throw curve balls now and then, it would surprise me to see them play together in some bizarre system at various points this season.

Also what Mingles said :D

Thanks for the tips.

I agree on Walcott, and have changed my midfield as I suggested in the post. The main reasoning was with Sanchez, Ozil missing, Theo has a chance of starting the first few. The team I put up was designed to contain 1 from all the top 6 sides, finding the points from Arsenal is hard without the money for Lacazette or Sanchez. Plus always had a soft spot in fantasy terms for Walcott after transferring him in years back in Arsenal's 7-3(?) Win over Newcastle and making him captain, leading me to finish top 50 for the GW.

I'll have a look at Carroll, esp if he's replaced Siggurdson on set pieces. Always a bonus when you've got a player that takes them, can be an extra 20 points easy a season.

Not played this since about 2007, but I have been talked into it this time around.

The key in the past always seemed to be keeping up with it and not losing interest, it doesn't help I'm going on holiday tomorrow and won't be that focused on the first two gameweeks as a result.

Mane and Salah being classed as midfielders seems a bit mad, so I'm going with them, despite not really liking too many key Liverpool lads in the team as it doubles down on the disappointment if we have a bad week.

Anyone have 2 liverpool attackers?

It's a risky strategy but I can't resist two of Salah, Mane and Firmino.

Ahhh thought I was set with my team but have just made 4 changes ha.

I was determined that it was a good idea to get a United player in there but i just can't see any real value. Pogba at 8 million could be a good shout with Matic behind him but I'll give that a few weeks to see.

I normally have a no Manc rule, but Matic at 5m seems too good to ignore.

It's good but you might consider spending a bit less on defence and a bit more in midfield.
Good Midfielders will always out score good defenders as they should for the difference in price.

Lukaku as captain is surely a given this weekend. Scored 4 goals (i think?) in pre-season against a west ham side who only kept 2 clean sheets away from home last season and only kept one clean sheet during pre-season.

Finally done (I hope)

Forster - Danilo - Bertrand - Davies - Willian - Redmond - Salah - Alli - Lacazette - Firmino (c) - Jesus

Thoughts?

Bit childish, but have never been able to pick a united player in all these years. Hope Lukaku fucking fails badly. It seems like half the world has Lukaku as captain  :no

I used to have a No-Man Utd player rule before but it looks like a banker for Lukaku this weekend and possibly a clean sheet as well for them.

Not many options for strikers this year are there? Kane and Lukaku aside, there are too many uncertainties.
Aguero - will he start? Costa won't feature. Will Morata settle and will Jesus continue at the same rate at last season?

Not sure what to do in that department, and would have to sacrifice Salah for Zaha to get Kane/Lukaku in.

He's only been picked by 1% of people. He's probably flown under the radar due to his injuries. In fairness, he only scored 10 points less than Kante last season despite missing most of it, and yet there's only 0.5mil difference in the pair.

Shelvey is another decent shout for the price (5.5mil), a loose cannon though is proven in this league and is one of Newcastle's go to men for creating chances.

I have Firmino (relatively cheap and will play a lot of games as Klopp loves him and will get. a decent amount of points), Laczette (a risk as you never know how he'll settle but he's guaranteed to play a lot, same with Morata really) and Jesus (Guardiola likes him so think he'll play a decent amount of games and score a fair few).

I think Ihenacho would be a good buy or Tammy Abraham for a really cheap option.
