Correct decision that wouldn't have been reached without the video ref. Perfect example of the technology working as it should, cannot understand why there's any debate.
I've just wiped the sticky residue from my bellend onto the television screen. Taste it Leo. You deserve it.
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

He was offside though. Good move by Chile and a really tight call but he was offside, so a good decision ultimately.
Was he really though?

Yes. You could see it on the replay ITV showed with the parallel line draw across the pitch.

watching on rte, really doesn't look offside, not from when Vidal played the ball.

Great. They didn't show that on the dstv feed

I'm loving this VAR so far.

It takes to long too. It should be instaneous and if it's not then the technology isn't ready for the offside part.

It takes about the same time as a substitution.

Yeah because we all celebrate subs coming on

Should we stop subs because they're not instantaneous? 30 seconds or thereabouts is a perfectly reasonable amount of time if it enables the correct decision to be made in my opinion.

No but you don't get a buzz when your team makes a sub do you.

So a team scores, fans and players celebrate there tits off only for it to get ruled out, then you have a minute of arguing over it, then the team that has just scored well that just takes the wind out of them doesn't it, all.because a ref and his assistants get a call so narrowly wrong.

There needs to be something quicker. A birdeye view constantly using some kind of system that can detect it within seconds

They just showed lines on the field like you see on the nfl, they need hundreds of them that can be seen through a camera so you have some kind of reference point that you can quickly establish the last man and then forward running on

I'm not arsed about how it makes fans or players feel to have a goal ruled out to be honest. I'm interested in the correct decisions being made.

Need to go back to daylight between the defender then, not having this, if someone has a longer nose than someone else, oh hang on offside

We need it for like, you know sterling away at city, or blatant dives. Not something so small like this. You'll just destroy players making runs off the last man

Don't know if daylight was ever a thing but that's a different argument regardless because all this does is make sure the rules get adhered to. If you have an issue with the rules themselves, then that's not where VR comes into play. Besides which, the offside rule is objective and I don't see how you can police what's small and what Sterling at Man City sized, which is more subjective.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Indeed.

Literally tens of millions of pounds can ride on the correct decision being made.

PS saw the box line grid now and he is clearly offside - not just be a nostril hair - just shows how easily the human eye can be fooled.

So you'd rather the wrong decision was made because it will cut short people's celebrations? Can't get my head around your argument at all. What about currently where you'll often see the referee allow/disallow a goal before going to chat with his linesman and then changing his decision? Should we ban that too because it isn't instantaneous and ruins celebrations?

Yeah, pretty much. I don't disagree that it's a little annoying if you think you've scored only to have that decision reversed 20 seconds or so later but I'd much rather have the correct decision made that not.

That was a clear foul on him.

As an aside, Sanchez has been very quiet since coming on

They'll take 5 minutes so the tv companies can get the adverts in.

You'll be told it's best to get the call right. And people will agree...

It's early days, but it's looking good. With VAR, we would have won at Anfield against the mancs.
