Haha thats fantastic, well in young man.

It'd be awesome to get them in the 3rd round at Anfield.

Pleased to see him doing well. Shame his team pulled off the bottle job to end all bottle jobs against Wimbledon.

3-0 up with ten minutes left, and they didnt even get a replay!

Morgan stunner voted goal of FA Cup second round

Adam Morgan's 25-yard strike for Curzon Ashton against AFC Wimbledon is voted the goal of the FA Cup second round by BBC Sport website users.  Morgan went on to score a hat-trick but suffered last-minute heartbreak as the Dons came from 3-0 down with 10 minutes remaining to win 4-3.

Europe > Championship > SPL > league 1 > league 2 > National League South > National League North.

Seriously kid, just retire.

Seems to have got his head on straight, and started playing and scoring. No reason he can't make a living from playing if he carries on.

He's jumping to a team that's 6 places further up the table that was relegated to Conference North from the National League and won the FA Trophy last season.

FC Halifax Town has a +15GD despite their current 9th place position.

The move is hardly a condemnation of Morgan's quality in relation to that league.

I don't know the particulars, but it smells like a richer club raiding a poorer club of their best talent.

FC Halifax Town finished 3rd in their league and won their playoff over Chorley to get promotion to the Vanarama National League (5th tier),

Curzon Ashton finished 14th, so all in all, a good career move for Morgan.

Let me just preface this by saying I'm a dough eyed optimist, but here's my two cents that no one asked for.

The League of Ireland is not the death sentence career wise that it might once have been deemed a few years ago. The strength of the league in general has gotten remarkably better and as each year ends more and more players get pretty decent moves out of it and are getting replaced ably by other league of Ireland players.

If he goes and gets the goals in, there's no dramatic big move from the Premiership but it is possible a league one or championship club could take notice.

If he hasn't cut it at the lower leagues, how does he turn this perceived negative into a positive?

The club have made a very personal and sincere attempt to get him there. When sliding down the divisions bouncing from club to club, feeling wanted boosts your confidence. The league is competitive but he's well able for it. Believe me, the Sligo Rovers fans aren't expecting fancy step overs, false 9, tikki takka shit, they just want some one to score goals. Which is just as well, because that's what he is capable of, if they get him going goals wise , he'll be adored there and no one would begrudge a move back to England if it eventuated.

Sligo itself is a beautiful spot nestled into one of the most scenic parts of Ireland, it's hard not to have a nice quality of life there if you're a young lad with a bit of money, coupled with stunning scenery each way you look. If he takes this chance seriously and has a happy time there he could reignite his career completely.

...... Or he might just do shit. Hope he goes well though.

Not much optimism to behold with dough in your eyes ;)

Seriously though. Decent post, thanks for that. Out of curiosity, how much would someone like Morgan make over at Sligo?

Haha, I can't believe I spelt that out... But you know what? I'm going to wear my mistake and leave it :D

Honestly, I'd be speculating what he'd be on but I could fairly certain it isn't much. Couple hundred Euros a week maybe. he might be their "marquee player" and could be on higher but it wouldn't be a lot still.

By footballer standards he'd be on a pittance but in terms of just being a young 24 year old he's probably doing alright. Sligo is relatively cheap too, so his money would go a bit further. Speculating, of course but he won't be retiring on the windfall of this move that is 1 thing I can say for certain.

I actually grew up on the east coast but when ever I'm homesick for Ireland it's always thinking about the west coast that makes my heart a little heavier.

When did your old man play for them? It's a lovely spot, boring at times but lovely.

Morgan and Sligo Rovers have parted by mutual consent due to a long term abdominal injury

http://www.the42.ie/adam-morgan-leaves-sligo-rovers-4159124-Aug2018/

Quote
Sligo Rovers manager Ger Lyttle said: “It’s come to the stage where Adam’s next contribution would be towards the latter end of our season, as he needs a rest period to recover from the abdominal problem.

“There isn’t an exact timeframe when that would be, it’s just the nature of that injury, so we’ve come to an agreement that for all parties it’s best he heads back home permanently to focus on his recovery.

“It’s a shame for all of us. But I think it’s the right move for him and the club. He can’t rush it and it’s the business end of our season. We thank him for his contribution here and wish him well in his future.”

Bit harsh...  he's still plugging away in the sixth division of English football. Not everyone makes it in the top divisions, at least the kid hasn't given up on making a career in the game.

I don't think the lad was ever going to make it at Liverpool, as he didn't have the all round game, although in the right place at the right time he could have had a Macheda/Origi influence in a seaosn off the bench as he was always a goalscorer.

Rodgers was a bit harsh with him which seemed to affect him, but what killed him was just a couple of bad moves. Rotherham on loan and didn't get a chance, signed for Yeovil and never got a real chance. He got really disheartened after that.

He just needed someone to give him a run of games because he knows where the goal is and in the right team will score goals. He was banging them in every week at Curzon and then again picked the wrong move and didn't kick on.

I think he was a victim of coming through during the time when LFC TV started broacasting all the Academy games and we hadn't had a local lad come through for ages and then here's this kid banging in goals every week. A rael hype started and it must have got his hopes up too much,

Could have done with Grujic and even Chirivella to tide us over this season
