Has everyone got their tree / decorations up?

I'm going to wait another week yet.

Not got a tree, probably won’t bother as not at home for Christmas. Bah, humbug.

They are up. First weekend of December always feels like the right time to put up the Christmas tree and decorations.

The other half has just put ours up this afternoon.  I sat watching TV and kept my head down as she swore several times at the tree and mass of tangled lights.

Next weekend for me, outside lights are up.Had a walk round dobbies in speke yesterday, £55 for  a very average tree. I don't think so.

My dog has a habit of licking the pine needles and drinking the water in the tree holder.

Christmas in a country that doesn't really celebrate Christmas can be tough.

I've managed to get home for the last two so not looking forward to this one at all! I'm going all out to try to make it feel like Christmas tough, but my decorations are getting some funny looks from the neighbors!

With the Arsenal game around Xmas did anyone go to the December 2001 game? Or remember it?

Was that when Owen started celebrating before Ashley Cole cleared off the line?

I genuinely feel we should of won that. Litmanen's penalty gave us the momentum to do so.

Asking in a Christmas thread as I always think of Christmas when I think of that game.
Did Shevchenko score his rebound?
Why was there an ambulance behind the goal for Tommason's Penalty?

I remember it, I was in Sydney at the time. Think it was the day before Christmas Eve? Was it an evening game? Either  at remember watching it at an anti social tune early morning! Felt like a shock result at the time although they went on to be worthy Champions. Think they had lost at home to Newcastle the week before so we’re wobbling a bit. Had we won that maybe things would have panned out differently.

So my and familys first ever Christmas away from Liverpool since we moved to Amsterdam in the summer. Its different here Sinterklaas is the main present giving period and that ended on 5th Dec. It was only then 'Chirstmas' appeared...which is a refreshing change from the Christmas bullying to buy on TV and Shops seems to start in October in UK.

I think Chrismas has taken on a more present giving profile here in the Netherlands over recent years but as far as I can tell its still more about having a nice time, good food etc.  Amsterdam looks pretty with its canals lit up and everyone seems to be buying a real tree ( minimal dressing) hundreds sold on street corners and shops everwhere.

There will be things I like about Christmas here and some things I will miss....went shopping yesterday and it was so relaxed , no women carrying 15 Primemark bags screaming at their kids...no drunken mobs on work Christmas do's

How we will 'feel' on Christmas day , dunno , It will be strange not to see my folks/Brother and family ( were popping back to visit them between Christmas and New Year)...but Im not sure how much I 'felt Christmas' anymore anyway...great to see my son enjoy it but build up was becoming more and more intense with buying stuff and being knackered come Christmas Day.

So my first Christmas in Amsterdam I think will be more about having a nice time, nice food, thinking about family....y'know ...like Christmas used to be.

And Happy Solstice. A big psychological boost for me.

If you listen to and watch nature from now on you can see / feel her change . The new bird songs really start kicking in and you see the flowers starting shoot in the park. Listen to her and feel her. She is beautiful. Life returns .
