Keep him or sell him anywhere but Stoke. Fuck them, what a horrible lot.

??? Since when do we not sell to Stoke? I'd sell him if only because he's never going to play here and he's not good enough for what we want to achieve.

How good a season has he had at Stoke? I read 4 goals in 19 PL appearances. Has he been a regular?

He's scored some important goals for them and proved a threat when he's been on, but at the same time, he's not really been a regular:

From what i've seen he's a decent mid table player who can get a goal. Probably at his level, think he got a couple injuries though.

Would imagine we'd recoup what we got for him £2-3m

I wouldn't sell him for less than 6 million.

Been having a look on the stoke forums just to see what the general feeling is about assaidi, he is very very well thought of and most of the fans seem to think if they can get him for around £5mil they should snap him up, personally I think that would be a good deal for both clubs.

If we can get a bit of a bidding war going between the mid-table clubs, I think we could rake up to around £6 million.

Mate, they are no longer Tony Pulis' Stoke. Assaidi has been solid for them this season, and they will be willing to pay, so we would easily recoup the £3 million that we have paid for him.

Indeed. I think we should be looking for 5m for him. We want the likes of Stoke/West Brom/Sunderland/Newcastle to get interested in him to get a bit of competition going.

He did, but Jarvis was Norwich best player.

Witt situations like this you have to consider where he'd fit in back at Liverpool. And he wouldn't, would he? It's all very well Hughes saying we hold all the cards but he's a decent player on good wages who won't play here if no-one signs him.

I'd be thrilled with £5 million but at a guess I think we'd be happy to recoup whatever we paid.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Think we are undervaluing him. Worse players than him will go for a lot more than 5. I have a feeling they have been using him sparingly to keep the price down.

We can't sell everyone. Assaidi has shown he can cut in the Premier League so unless we get a fee that makes it worthwhile we might as well keep him.

We have 4 competitions to go at next season and will need to use a much bigger pool of players. This year, had he been here he would have been ahead of Moses and would directly replace him in the squad. Obviously if we sign Lallana and Konoplyanka then his options may be limited but we should not be giving him away.

We can't sell everyone.

i think we're getting close to the point that we can.  after chelsea we seem to have a lot of players on loan that could bring in a bit of cash.

do we have a better youth player at the club than assiadi?  well we will have to see but our reserves are better every season.

we can also do better than assiadi as a squad player particularly being back in champions league next season.

brendan worked wonders clearing the stables last season i expect that to continue this summer.

Shelvey for £6m was it? Thought he should have gone for closer to £10m at least given his age and quality. Probably a case of where Brendan accepted slightly less money to keep the player happy and send him to a good club that otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford him.

Yep - I think it's far too easy to forget that these players are people and have relationships with other people at our club. Say what you will about the need to be ruthless but personal things will always factor into these dealings in a way that most outside of the club won't realise.

I've just been internet-scouting Assaidi and have to say I'm in a little bit of a conundrum when it comes to him.

He's obviously got a bag of tricks (which is why we bought him in the first place) and has had some really good performances this season for Stoke, such as against Chelsea (fast forward to 10:00 for the best bit!) and Fulham where he scored and was MOTM, showing that there's clearly a good player in there somewhere.

He might have been a budget signing as a player that Brendan had been watching during his time at Swansea, but I think that if we retained him next season he could improve while playing with better players in training on a daily basis. Btw, I think Assaidi's got a very similar Cruyff-turn as Lallana does, hopefully he can improve his offensive efficiency and decision making though.

I think Brendan may have loaned him out primarily to get game-time just like with Borini instead of for the intention of selling him afterwards. I think Borini and Assaidi might be competing for the same place in the squad though next season, and I think Borini wins that race. However, it might yet be a good idea to keep Assaidi in the squad as a backup instead of holding on to Ibe for instance, since Ibe arguably has the higher upside and could use a loan more than Assaidi given that Assaidi is already 25.

Many have been calling for him to be sold for £3-5m, but I think there just might be more value in him if we wait a year - either if we keep him with us for cup games or if we loan him out again.

Whatever happens it'll certainly be intriguing to follow what will happen with a few of our "fringe" players, along with those returning from loans.

For me the only way he possibly stays and features next season is if we have a really shit transfer window. Anything else would make absolutely no sense since Rodgers never played him when we had a shit squad and 7th in the league.

Had totally forgot about Oussama Assaidi until I just noticed he has scored a brace for FC Twente in the Dutch top flight (game still going on so he might get a hatty yet)

Never quite hit the heights expected of him wherever he has been and always thought he tried just that little bit too hard the odd occasion he got a game for us.  There was a player in there somewhere though I feel.

Anyhow, nice to see the lad still playing and scoring in one of the top European leagues

MODS please move to the Liverpool Former players board if necessary. Cheers.

He was skillful and quick, a bit slight though. Definitely didn't get a realistic chance here - but that's how it goes. Often.
