The Rider Podcast - TAW Production
« on: April 25, 2013, 01:43:47 pm »
Just so the main Anfield Wrap thread doesn't become full of music lovers, here is one to comment about the Rider.

I, for one, am a big fan of it so far, and with this weeks episode - the third - I was really impressed with Big Daddy Kane getting a mention but also the Killer Mike (who I have never listened to before) track was class. Baltic Fleet also getting a mention was great as they're doing some cracking stuff at the moment

I'm really enjoying the diversity of the tracks on the podcast so far and the ladder of love usually has me laughing slightly due to the competative edge.

But yeah, this weeks was boss, keep it up! Even my manc mate thinks its decent.

Found this.

We are giving this a push at the minute, for a variety of reasons - one very legitimate one being it pays me some money so I shouldn't neglect it.

The main one though is that as it is New Year, people resolve to listen to more new music. So if you are listening, thanks. Bring a friend. If you aren't, have a think about it. Loved this list you have here - http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=310276.200 - really strong and shows sense. We played a load of these through the year, especially from 20 - 50, so that shows a fair amount of convergence. And if we don't always converge, well, I think the jokes are good...

Just as an FYI our tracklists for the first two podcasts of the year are as per the below:

08/01/14
Artist & Track
St. Vincent - Digital Witness
Look Vibrant - Grow Up
Hospitality - I Miss Your Bones
Star Slinger - I/IV
Summer Cannibals - Sit Still
Fickle Friends – Swim
Mint Royale - Ring (feat. Willem Dafoe)
Made In Heights - Murakami
Tirzah - Inside Out
Sam Smith - Money on my Mind (MK remix)

15/01/2014
Artist & Track
MO - Never Wanna Know
Blank Realm - Reach You On The Phone
Françoiz Breut - Michka Soka
Ooga Boogas - FYI
Thomas Azier - Ghostcity
Nate Connolly - Tired Waiting (feat Ruby Pemberton)
Foxes - Let Go For Tonight (Fred Falke Remix)
Dan Croll - Compliment Your Soul
Running Red Lights - Dear Liza
George Ezra - Budapest

Anyway, no worries if not, but thought I'd mention it.

Apologies if this has been asked before but is there any way to subscribe to just the Rider episodes? I currently subscribe to TAW and so I get the Rider "for free" as it were.

I want to get my mates onto this but they're not interested in football whatsoever so I know they won't want to have the TAW and Citytalk episodes as well as the Rider.

Will be getting sorted soon with a bit of luck.

I'd been looking for a Rider thread for a while, it's quite well hidden. Only found it through the TAW thread.

I absolutely love the podcast, it has a perfect blend of people that regularly have me in stitches and as for the music, I am continually blown away. I've discovered so many amazing new artists and been to loads of gigs off the back of the show, so thanks (not sure who I'm thanking as I doubt any of the contributors will see this)!

Genuinely one of the highlights of my week.

I absolutely love the podcast,
Yeah its been very high on my list of unmissable's each week. Since day one I've kept a separate music folder of the stuff I've got from the Rider, its as good as any compilation.

My advice to all listeners is to 'buy them a pint' :D

Yeah, I rarely miss it. It's a bit of a slog trying to find good new music these days, wading through sites like Pitchfork and Quietus in the hope of finding something that hits the spot. And I'd rather be listening than reading endless reviews.
The chat is always quite entertaining and there's a nice mix of styles being featured.

Yeah agreed. I've always been relied upon by mates as a bit of a source for new music suggestions and to be honest I'd been drying up a bit. I think it was mix of laziness and getting older, but now, oh now it's different. The stream is endless.

Another thing is now I actually know and have even heard most of the mercury nominations!

Wasn't a fan of all the bangers this week, maybe I'm getting old.

Might have been me, thanks for the direction.

Got to hand it to Gibbo. Love the show but he is the most consistent at hitting my taste buds.
