Enjoying Ostapenko versus Konta. Ostapenko is such a great shot maker but Konta is more than holding her own.

Konta has to play again later?! That's some crappy scheduling.

Kerber won 6-2, 6-1 and Jo had to battle through that 3setter.. Can't see Konta prospering even if she is in better form.

Can't believe Halep lost that, she was a set and 3-0 up, and then 4-3 up with a break!

She started the match a bit shakey, then really upped her game to take the first set and was in command of the second, looked to me that she just checked out of the match.

It's still a bit mental seeing Konta in the top bracket of WTA players. Ranked 7 in the world.

She was an absolute nobody a few years ago. I don't think anyone could have seen this coming.

Willbomb has a very tough match vs Marchenko but I really hope and believe he can come through it. Loved his story last year destroying Richard Berankis and playing vs Federer and giving him a good match. Also helps he is a red who snubbed the s*n.. they tried to give him 15k to be sponsored by them last year and he told them where to go.

Any chance you can stop calling the scum promoting c*nt Willbomb please? He clearly didn't snub them...

Woah, only article i'd seen was this one; http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/other-sport/tennis/tennis-hero-liverpool-fan-marcus-11551567

Wimbledon darling Marcus Willis turned down a Ł15,000 windfall from The S*n - because he is a Liverpool FC fan.

The world number 772 became the story of this year’s Wimbledon when he beat Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in the first round to earn a Centre Court showdown with Roger Federer.

The 25-year-old from Wokingham was quickly embraced by the British crowd, prompting The S*n to try to cash in on his popularity by asking Willis to wear their branding on court.

The lifelong Reds fan refused.

Prior to Wimbledon Willis had earned just Ł220 in prize money this year from tennis - but the principled British number 23 was resolute.

He stepped onto court Ł15k lighter, with no branding, but enjoyed the richest experience of his tennis life against the greatest player the sport has ever seen.

Noticed today he is abit of a tit anyway to be honest, disrespectful to his opponent and umpire because he was losing..

Great to see both Konta and Watson through to the semi finals at Eastbourne.

Agree.

This is the best Watson has played for years.

She's a nice player to watch, it's a shame she hasn't moved on with her game.  She's good enough to be top 30 I think.

Hopefully, Konta has a better run at Wimbledon this year, after this week.  She got to the semis last year too, then lost early doors the following week.

They're seeded 3rd and 4th I believe? If that's right then they can't meet until the final.

World number 855 Alex Ward became the only British player to come through Wimbledon singles qualifying by securing a stunning win over Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili.

Ward, 27, won 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 in the third and final round of qualifying in Roehampton.

He was given a wildcard to play in qualifying and had lost his previous seven matches before this week.

Fellow Britons Marcus Willis and Jay Clarke went out in the final round.

Ward will be one of 12 British players, led by defending champion Andy Murray and world number seven Johanna Konta, in the main singles draws at Wimbledon.

Ward, from Northampton, will take his place in the main draw at Wimbledon for only the second time, having received a wildcard 12 months ago.

Willis, 26, became the early story of last year's Wimbledon by coming through six matches in pre-qualifying and qualifying, and then the first-round proper, before losing to Roger Federer on Centre Court.

"What a story that was, let's see what happens this year," said Ward.

"We're the same age, we used to train here together and he's always been a great player and a fantastic character, always fun to be around."

Tennis
Find out how to get into tennis in our special guide.

Ward has taken an even more unlikely route than Willis having lost in the final round of pre-qualifying, only to be handed a wildcard into the Wimbledon qualifying event.

He had lost all four previous matches in Wimbledon qualifying.

"It just feels amazing, I'm still struggling to get my head around it," said Ward, who slipped down the rankings from 242 last year after having six months off with a wrist injury.

"It will mean everything [to return to Wimbledon], especially having qualified. I feel like I really deserve my place there."

Ward said he had played the best tennis of his life this week in beating Belarusian Egor Gerasimov, ranked 166th, Japan's Go Soeda, ranked 111th, and Gabashvili, ranked 176th.

Reaching the first-round proper guarantees him at least Ł35,000 in prize money.

"That's a big sum of money," said Ward.

"I haven't got a coach at the moment, so I can invest in a coach and have better preparation for matches."

He now hopes to go one better than last year, when he lost to Belgian David Goffin in the first round at Wimbledon.

"We'll see what happens in the draw on Friday," he said.

The three guys he beat are all pretty solid players. Would all three of them beat Serena Williams as McEnroe says?

Federer maybe, but I'm still far from convinced Nadal will perform on the grass.

Nadal can be vulnerable on the grass, however, wimbledon courts are the slowest and the highest bouncing of all the grass court tournaments, which suits him better.

Nadal is in great form this year, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got to the final.

I'd back him to beat Murray if they meet each other in the semis.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see another Federer Nadal final, still a lot of tennis to be played first though.

So, Murray vs Federer, Nadal vs Djokovic, potential semi lineup.

With Nadal missing Queens and factoring in he hasn't played on grass for two years, his knees pose the most problems on grass as you need to bend your knees all the time play low and he hasn't been past the fourth round since 2011, Berdych defeated him in straight sets this week and Nadal didnt seem to be competitive, I would be surprised he makes it to the last 16.

The pressure is off after RG and has only points to gain at Wimbledon though without a doubt he will try his best since its a Grand Slam.

No, 1 can get either 3 or 4.

All 4 are in different quarters of the draw, 1 & 2 must be in different halfs, as must 3 & 4. Same rules then apply to 5-8 & so on

Tough draws for the majority!

Federer vs Dolgopolov, Medvedev vs Wawrinka, Klizan vs Novak, Raonic vs Struff, , Kohlscrieber vs Cilic, Bedene v Karlovic, Verdasco v Anderson.

Murray has a qualie, Kyrgios vs Herbert, Nadal v Millman (piece of piss)

Womens draw looks very straight forward only ones to really catch my eye would be Wozniacki Babos and Jankovic Radswanska

Dolgopolov is an absolute stinker of a draw for Federer. I don't expect Dolgopolov to beat him but he's certainly not somebody you want to face early in a Grand Slam. He can play unbelievable tennis when he's on form. Cilic has a tough match too.

Yes, but it's better to play him in the 1st round than in Round 2 or 3... Federer just doesn't lose in the first round.
